The way they react to the person reading Bhagvatham makes me think they are new to the temple.

Looks to me that ISKCON organization might have invited him since he is from an Indian origin and he also eventually accepted the invite. Maybe even vice versa, he wanted to make a gesture to certain ethnicities/ religious groups in UK.

This act might attract or please some set of population!
