Yogi Evicted from his Astral Residence

I was bothered again last night with some people who are either in the hereafter because of leaving their bodies or are about to be shifted there permanently. In other words, this again is another omen of my having to leave my body soon. Soon in this case could mean a few years but then as time is passing so quickly anyway, a few years might be like tomorrow.

I am not the only person who receives these death notices but I might be the only person who can interpret them for what they are. Others are too busy living it up and keeping themselves in positive thinking to regard dreams which are omens and which herald one’s impending departure from the physical body which now serves as the astral address.

For the past 60 years I was using this physical body as the astral address because the astral body was coming back to this physical body and repossessing it night after night, but soon I will be evicted as a tenant without a physical house to live in. What will I do then? Where will I go? Who will be my new mother and father? What will be the country of my next birth? What will be the political conditions? What will be the prevailing religion?

Last night I was in a cross world which had dirt roads only and no automobiles. Some people there knew me from this life. Some of these persons I had not seen for over 45 years. Each of us had astral bodies which were the same in age as when we knew each other’s some 45 years ago. The others had this blank look on the faces, from the shock of being vacated from their most recent physical forms.

One person was living in an exact replica of the house she lived in before and with some of her relatives who are also departed. There was no food there but they were all thinking of the kinds of food they used to eat when they had physical forms. I wanted to explain to them how transmigration operates but they were so shell-shocked because of having been forced away from their physical bodies permanently, that I could not open my mouth to say anything. I stayed with them for a while and then a man came who still has a physical body. He said he wanted me to come over to where he was living. I said okay and then I left that cross world.

Special notation:

One special thing about this experience is the clarity of consciousness I had during the experience. I was more aware than I am even when using the physical body. The other thing was the clarity of the astral materials in that everything was clearly illuminated even though there was no sunlight in that place, like everything had its own light which caused it to be seen.

The other thing was the clarity of memory. It was like what happened 45 years ago was happening all over again, not as a memory but as an actually occurrence but with the knowledge that this had happened before. This experience is an example of entering what Edgar Cayce called the Akashic Records, except that in this case, one enters and experiences instead of entering and seeing a memory of past events. This is a siddhi and is one of the samadhi result explained by Patanjali.

Look at this which was written and then published in 2010 in the Meditation Expertise book:

Chapter 3: Verse 23

sopakramaṁ nirupakramaṁ ca karma

tatsaṁyamāt aparāntajñānam ariṣṭebhyaḥ vā

sopakramaṁ – set about, undertaken, already operative; nirupakramaṁ – dormant, destined; ca – and; karma – cultural activities; tat - that; saṁyamād = saṁyamāt – from the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy; aparānta – of the other end, of death entry into the hereafter; jñānam – knowledge; ariṣṭebhyaḥ – from portents; vā – or.

Complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy in relation to current and destined cultural activities results in knowledge of entry into the hereafter. Or, the same result is gained by the complete restraint in relation to portents.

Analysis:

Both current and future cultural activities are the result of destiny, which is a combination of several forces. These destined energies work now. They worked in the past. They will work in the future. By restraining the mento-emotional energy in relation to the confusing impressions which we absorb, and the ones which are stored in memory, we may derive intuitive or direct supernatural perceptions of the subtle world to ascertain when it would be necessary for any of us to leave a material body. By this process, a yogi can leave his body and enter other dimensions of the hereafter where other civilizations transpire.

Each person who is about to leave his or her body experiences portents. Most cannot properly interpret the indications. With clarity, a yogi can accurately gage those signs and messages.

Application:

By applying his attention to current or destined cultural activities, when no other ideas, images or memories occur in the mind, the yogi gains insight into the hereafter. He may apply attention to supernatural occurrences which facilitate the perception of other dimensions.

A question may arise as to whether I deliberately practiced the samyama samadhi restraint to current and destined cultural activities. The answer is that I do not deliberately do this. This is done in the course of kriya yoga practice. The method of directly doing meditation to attain siddhis or mystic perception is not done but it occurs as a side feature of the kriya practice. The yogi has it as a task to recognize when these skills develop and to use them in the interest of increased practice, not for display to others.

Srila Yogeshwarananda is always saying that students should reinvest their mystic skills in the practice, just like crazy businessmen who always just plow their profits into the business so that the business gets bigger and bigger and more established. If a yogi fails to do this and then gets sidetracked to focus on developing mystic skills to show others or to convince skeptics, then that yogi will be ruined.
