Yogi Bhajan supervises a teaching session

On the astral side, this morning’s practice was supervised by Yogi Bhajan. I am teaching a student who was attracted to the bhastrika method sometime before but who did not pursue it.
Now again this is an effort to get this person to learn the practice. Bhastrika Pranayama which is also known as breath of fire and bellows breathing, really begins with kapala bhati which is a pre-stage which progresses into bhastrika over time.
Students should begin this practice doing kapala bhati with a force exhale and no emphasis or attention on the inhale. The inhale should take place of its own accord as a reflexive action of the lungs and diaphragm. The exhale should be forced out and the breathing should take place as rapidly as is possible.
Over time this will result in a development where the exhale becomes spontaneous and automatic for the body, and then the student will shift focus to the inhale to cause that to be more forceful, so that both the exhale and inhale is forceful.
Apart from breath emphasis, there needs to be focus down into various parts of the subtle body. This happens according to the posture in which one is doing the rapid breathing. Thus when the exhale is forced as in kapala bhati, and when that forced exhale becomes an automatic action of the body, then the student’s focus can be shifted to the accumulation of breath energy and the location at which the breath energy has accumulated.
In a certain posture, focus of the mind, on a particular part of the subtle body, will cause the infused breath energy to go to the focused area, resulting in the buildup of a charge of energy.
Thus focus is important.
What happens when you do breath infusion in a certain posture, then you sense that this posture naturally causes you to focus in a specific area of the subtle body?
Does the energy accumulate in that specific part of the body?
Or does it accumulate evenly in all parts of the body regardless?
Suppose the energy accumulates in that part of the body, then what should you do with it?
In fact, can you do anything to it?
Can it be controlled?
What psychic action can you take to derive some benefit from the energy surcharge?

Pool's query:
What if for example one does not focus on a certain part of the subtle body and yet one assume a specific posture which is suppose to put emphases on the navel area or the groin area or any other part, will that breath energy accumulate to that spot automatically just from being in that posture itself?
Is there a difference if one is just standing straight and breathing, have attention placed on a particular part of the subtle body.. then assuming any other postures and not having attention on the stretched area a posture produce?
Are postures all about having your attention here and there, or is there more to it?

MiBeloved's Response:
It may or it may not depend on the posture. Certain postures will cause the energy to accumulate in a certain area for sure, while other postures act like run-away trains which might go down any of the tracks which lead into or out of the railway station.
Wherever the energy goes, if one does not focus there and create a link to focus there, the energy may be diffused there in a non-concentrated form. Focusing causes concentration and tightening of the energy, so that its charge becomes more potent which more than likely will cause the arousal of kundalini.
In the subtle body a focused charge does more to eliminate negative energy.

MiBeloved's Response:
Let us apply this to a more mundane event like evacuation. This takes place naturally but if someone applies a downward pressure, then this process becomes more efficient.
When we add focus to any natural event, it is likely that it will be intensified.
It does have to do with the attention as well as with other factors.
Why should I do yoga practice if my interest is not strong enough for me to focus on the effects of each of the postures and processes?
People make money because they focus on commercial aspects, and yoga is similar in that the students who focus make the fastest progress.
Standing and breathing has benefits and from that pose the student may also focus here or focus there. However the other postures have specific advantages. Each posture makes it easy to focus on a specific area or has a specific area under tension or under a lack of tension. Thus once these areas are discovered, the student should add to the process by focusing internally to those places, while the infusion is taking place.

Hello Michael,
I appreciate these instructions; they'll be quite helpful indeed, thank you.
BTW, I like today's banner, you are also an artist!
