Water before Main Meal

I recommend that one should take at least half glass of water before taking the main meal for the day. This would allow the system to take whatever water it requires for use in the glands and tissues of the body. Otherwise the life force will extract liquid from what is eaten as the main meal besides extracting nutrients.
If this happens, the life force takes liquid and nutrients from the digested food then the remaining waste will be drier in the lower intestines and that might contribute to constipation and delays evacuation which is counterproductive in yoga practice.
One of the things one comes to realize in kundalini yoga is that any extra expenditure of energy for the kundalini results in a less-deeper meditation as well as less dream recall and less astral/psychic awareness.
It does matter if the kundalini operates inefficiently. That does affect the quality of meditation. That does affect the degree of psychic perception. That does cause the sleep needs to increase or decrease.
The physical body is not the spiritual self, and still so long as the self is fused into the body, the condition of the body affects the psychological posture of the self.

Interesting observation. I would add that drinking very cold and sugary drinks with your meal and right after your meal should be mostly avoided. Digestion is interrupted by this and less nutrients can be extracted. The sugar disrupts the chemical balance of the digestion and the cold temperature also makes it harder to break down the food, especially for fatty foods. These are general observations and I encourage you to make your own observation on how your body feels by varying your drinking habits until you find the right mix.
