Meditation this morning was fair with a wide naad blare sound and a vibrational energy coming up from the bottom of the trunk of the subtle body; There was a naad vortex to the right to the back which was like a 2 to 3 inch hole going downwards. The vibration spreading from this was the regular naad sound but with an enriched attractive force. The vibration coming from the rest of the subtle trunk was a different kind of vibrational force which was resulting from the breath infusion session before the meditation.
Here is a simple diagram of the cross section of the subtle trunk looking down into it from being in the head of the subtle body:
This is an example of a meditation with saturated vibrational energy as compared to using mantras, or using light or using visualization. A yogi may in meditation rely solely on naad vibrations of various types. Listening to naad also is a transcendental practice.
Naad is a vibrational reality but it may be perceived in some meditations as pure sound. It is called the unstruck melody, meaning that it is a sound produced by the universe without using a musical instrument. At times however it is perceived as vibration. At other times as subjective light. These are valid perceptions.
From this level of existence, it may seem to be abstract, shapeless and uncaused. But from the transcendental plane it is a definite reality. Sometimes when one travels out of a muddy river which flows out of the Amazon into the Atlantic Ocean, one notices far out at sea a place where that river seems to end and where the Atlantic seems to begin. One sees a line where the muddy influence ceases and where the clear water of the Atlantic begins. Of course a fish in the water may not see that demarcation that clearly, all because of its perspective. So a student yogi might have no idea that naad is not an abstraction because to him it is exactly that.
Naad sound is so transcendental that if one gets into the habit of listening to it, a time comes when one feeds on it like a calf feeding on its mother’s milk. Just by doing that the calf grows nicely. One’s confidence in the unseen, unheard spiritual world increases considerable just by listening to naad sound.
Eventually by the mercy of naad sound, one loses confidence in the importance of the material world, and one no longer is interested even in trying to convince others about the hazards of transmigration. In other words one no longer holds on to so many flimsy reasons and excuses for not paying attention to higher reality. One develops the courage to forsake this level of existence which is more or less just a place where a can of worms are busy interfering with one another as they wiggle their way and eat their way through sewage.
As a traveler who was waiting on a conveyance to take him to another country to the promised land, waves good bye when at last he gets clearance to board the means of conveyance, so a yogi who has long fed on naad sound, gets a signal that his existence is breaking off, breaking away from this material world. Therefore one can see these great yogis, smiling with bright faces of spiritual light as they move away more and more from this situation, all by the grace of continuous feeding on naad.
Such great yogis seem to be saying with their smile,
“You guys over there are doing okay. Never mind the hassles, the ups and downs, the bad births and good ones. It is fun for you. Keep enjoying yourselves there. Goodbye!”
