Urdhva Reta /sexual fluids upward flow

Urdhva Reta means upward (urdhva) flow of sexual fluids (reta). Kundalini yoga is more or less all about causing this upward flow but it begins with causing the sexual energies to arc across to the base chakra and then cause kundalini to move up the spine into the brain. The passage it takes through the spine is called sushumna nadi.

Why is there a need to cause the upward flow anyway?

The reason for this is that the natural design is a downward flow. Gravity itself dictates a downward flow of fluids. The heart has it as a service to reverse this downward flow. In the legs of the human body there are special valves which help the heart to pull blood up and out of the feet, thus defeating the law of gravity.

The urdhva reta action would be unnecessary if the fluids were coming up through the body and not going down. If there was some anti-gravity force in the body then the fluids would not go down as a matter of course.

Psychologically, a yogi has it as a task, to reverse this downward flow. If for instance the sexual fluids did not go down naturally, if these fluids did not even form in the body, then there would be no need for the austerities which produce the urdhva reta upward flow of the fluids.

If we have a problem, then we apply ourselves to solve it. It is better however if there was no problem to begin with, instead of constantly dealing with a recurring problem.

What if it was possible to cause the sexual energy to go upwards automatically and continuously so that it never pools up, never accumulates into an impulsive urge?

What if the energy of the bone marrow in the thighs went upwards evenly through the entire body instead of pooling up mostly in the genital-groin area?
