Unsolicited Help from a Deity (devata)

Today during the early morning meditation session, suddenly I got some help from a deity. This is from the Shiva deity who helps yogis. It seems that this help was unsolicited but I cannot be sure. There are cases where a yogi will petition to a devata for help, then the yogi will forget that he did so. Then when the help does come some months or years after, the yogi might assume that it was given even without a request for it.
There is another situation, where because of the progress a yogi made with spiritual disciplines, his energy is detected by a deity, who then offers assistance when the deity sees that the yogi is stagnant and cannot get higher than a certain stage of practice.
Some levels cannot be attained from this end of existence by a yogi unless the yogi is pulled up by a deity. In which case even if the yogi keeps practicing for thousands of years, still he will not be elevated to that plane. At least not until a deity reaches out and pulls him up.
Recently within the past three years approximately, I stopped appealing to anyone for help, including both deities and astral yoga gurus. The reason is that at the stage of practice I know that asking for help would be for me a diversion from my lessons.
If you attend a school and you are given sufficient help beforehand, then it is not proper to harass the teacher for help, especially if all you need to do is to practice the exercises you were given. I have also gained more confidence in the yoga gurus, that they will render assistance if there really needs to be any.
In the event this morning I did not see the Shiva Deity visually but I saw him through a reception energy in the psyche. This is hard to explain. It is an energy which takes or absorbs yoga help. It can identify the source of the help but not in a visual way. It acts as vision but not in the way of using eyes. It is like there are no eyes and still one sees clearly and knows the source of the bestowal.

During the meditation, suddenly, as I was fused into the naad sound in the right back part of the subtle head, there appeared to be no top cover to my subtle head. As I looked up it was open like a sky-light without a glass pane in the roof of a building. A subtle-energy funnel manifested in the subtle head. In this funnel the deity poured in an astral liquid which flowed evenly. It filled all parts of the subtle body from the bottom upwards. Then the subtle liquid flowed out at the top of the head right under the funnel. As it flowed out, it disappeared so that no liquid went down the outside of the subtle body.
Exactly what this would do to the subtle body is unknown to me at this time. I assume it has something to do with my efforts to convert the subtle body into a yoga siddha form.
There was no explanation from the deity as to what this energy would do but the deity was very peaceable and was smiling while doing this. I assume then that somehow my practice is taking a turn for the better, and that the deity was satisfied that so far my efforts were consistent and steady.
There was no bliss sensation, just a sensation of absolute clarity of consciousness and clear perception of the smile of the deity.

Interesting stuff. I am glad things are working out well for you Michael. Your experience got me thinking about something.
How could someone tell if a presence or entity is a Deity or someone else? I've had presences do things to my subtle body when I am paralyzed in the past. The motives are unknown to me. These days I want to have experiences for greater understanding and clarity. It has worked out well. I've had many experiences that speak to me on a very personal level that remain unwritten.

The system you are using is a different system. This means that the methods I use may not work as well or even not work in your system. You are using the medium system, which attracts a totally different range of other presences and for other purposes.
To increase your perception in that system, you need to get yourself tied to a specific leading deity. Say for instance you have a Christian background. Then you would work within the confines of that, meaning to make contact with Jesus Christ or with a saint in the Christian religion. Once you make that contact steadily, you would then meditate for a time, for say about 6 months to make sure that that contact was firm, where you knew for sure whenever you got linked to that deity.
During this time you would take meticulous notes so that you wrote down every communication with the deity. This will allow you to check yourself for accuracy or inaccuracy, where if a message produced results you would note that and if it did not you would note that. In that way you would calibrate your intuition.
Intuition has errors and that is not a problem. The challenge is to calibrate it so that you know the degree of errors and so you can recognize when it giving an incorrect reading.
Now after this calibration is done to your satisfaction and you have that confidence, then you would open yourself to other influences besides that deity. Since the intuition was calibrated you will use that understanding to deal with any other contact with any other presence.
It is very important that when doing this you actually begin with a true deity. True here means an established deity. For instance, if you go into a Catholic church there are forms of Christ, His mother and the saints. Usually those forms were established long ago and people were using them serviceably to make contact with the main deity or with the assistant deities. So you would adopt a deity of that nature.
But that is how you would start it.
Regular visits to a chapel or to a cathedral are important to make this contact with the said deity, because there you will get a feel for the person which will allow you to identify the person if you meet the person somewhere else, in some other dimension or if the person contacts you mentally elsewhere.
For example, you would make a visit to a cathedral during the time when there is no formal service. Then you would go from deity to deity to see which one attracts you specifically. Once you identify that one you would adhere to that person as the main divine contact.
