This is a reply I made on Pavlina's Forum. It touches on a common dream experience.

Looking For Insight on Dreams:
Hey everyone, I just wanted to get everyone’s opinion on something.
I've always had extremely vivid dreams, and I am consciously aware of everything while I'm dreaming. It seems more like I'm in another world rather than an innocent dream.
The majority of the time my dreams are eerie or have an uncomfortable feeling towards them.
But recently, my ex fiancé has been coming into my dreams longing for us to give things another shot. Or he is rubbing it in my face that he's already moved on. And in either case I just feel annoyed the whole time.
But Im mainly confused because Im very aware of everything happening in my dreams. Like I said, I feel the same in my dreams as I do when Im awake. They are extremely vivid, and Im always aware of things happening. So I found it odd that out of nowhere he has showed up.
(side note: the first time i was trapped in old style mansion and he randomly appeared in a room. the second i was lighting a camp fire in the woods while camping with family).
MiBeloved's Response:
There are two sides to a dream encounter between two people which is that both has to have some desire to see the other for the dream encounter to occur. This does not mean that the desire is a willing one or a conscious one or even a preferred one.
Subconsciously I may have a desire which I consciously deny or hate terribly, but still that will operate for fulfillment in dreams.
Instead of focusing on the desire of the other part, and his access to your dream territory, try to find your own desire in the subconscious. If you can take of that, stop that then his power would greatly decrease and his longing to be with you will remain a longing without fulfillment until it gradually wears off.
There is some truth to the statement that it takes two to tangle.
