However, Patanjali himself did not depict drugs in any negative light. From what I have heard, Patanjali seemed to have just an objective comment on the use of drugs; to my knowledge his view was not critical or even cautionary! So is usage incompatible with spirituality in general or even worthless?

But which drug(s) was he talking about, all, any, specific one(s)? What were the detail qualities and qualifications of such substances…? And who was the audience he was sharing with? Who is it relevant for? Just the Shivaites who can be seen smoking what could amount to the whole tree?

And, another question that comes to the mind of a looney dude like me is; how does he, Patanjali know anything about drugs? Is it that he is simply omniscient? Are his views known to be theoretical or experiential? Or would I do better by accepting that such immortalized being as beyond the human experience? Even though bad, good and wrong, right are ultimately subjective moralistic concepts that disintegrate into figments in the light of infinite consciousness.

Poison for one is medicine, food for the other. So it is a matter of individual consciousness and position, and certainly irrelevant at an intermediate to advanced levels; such discourse does not include them at least out of respect. For the seeker and novice a certain tool can be inaccessible from a moralistic and dogmatic purview.

Still, practically all people with access to some kind of healthcare will in their life time will be inoculated different types of drugs; such is done in an accepted and studied environment that is our medical, pharmaceutical institutions. The hallmark of our brave modern day scientists and doctors are their attention to detail, proclaimed objectivity, a systematic approach to studying of a given phenomenon…

And, their prescriptions can have overwhelming side effects, yet they are normally not questioned or even challenged. To be fair even something as banal as sugar can be considered a drug! And, what about the well-known aspirin, which I personally shunned at a certain previous phase, stage? These professionals are amongst the most trusted craftsmen we know, readily entrusted with our health and lives.

Through an open mind only, consciousness can be approached methodically. The route of personal exploration differs from that of institutionalized processes and is usually deemed unacceptable by the norms. Particularly when it comes to the use of said drugs on account of abject reputation due to a general access by individuals with the intent to escape from their materialistic reality without consideration of spiritual acumen, or even awareness of their own psychology, present circumstances or previous life implications.

Certainly, the moment an individual who has as much as flirted with genuine spiritual inquiry considers the use of drugs it is done in simultaneously with a level of consideration deeper than that of our high school and college kids or general bums and junkies. Such an individual has a different intent and purpose than those who are attracted by possible glamourized ideas, or imprisoned for lack insight into their deeper self or motives.

All sentient beings routinely access a certain depth of their consciousness or even subconscious; this is done by the channels of nature and may be unsettling in the case of nightmares. Through regression therapies, hypnotherapies … some access the same by other artificial means. And these voyages within are distinct from the practices leading to subtle body purification and eventual transmutation, a simple visit does not warrant a status of residency; but an adventurer can appreciate a little tourism or scouting prior to migrating.

Consciousness exploration can be linear or wrought with side lines, mini explorations. In addition, there is always room for other detrimental effects from inadvertent and practically unavoidable exposures all around. It behooves one to gauze with care and ponderation; there is no one right formula or a perfect line for every consciousness. Important it is to have insight as to one’s needs all along the way… It is all to be a personal and individual prerogative or shall I say prescription.

I would like not to fear so much my consciousness (my hell, my heaven and my no-man’s land) as it is already who I know as me; or the I n I, I so knoweth is but a fraction of my consciousness; as I desire to jet for freedom from or through spiritual liberation.

Some people are acquainted with the power of Homeopathic medicine. I was once in Delhi with miserable diarrhea, and a homeopathic doctor gave me a few small, red, pills, to dissolve sub-lingually. The condition immediately stopped. How come? I know that the pills contained mostly sugar. But mostly, not all.

The homeopathic doctor puts a tiny amount of arsenic, silver, or other metal or substance in a huge amount of water, whereby a chemist with sophisticated equipment would barely find anything, perhaps traces in the ppb (parts per billion) range, and voila! the condition is cured. What do they know? What power or powers of memory this substance can have to influence the mind such?

Comparing the psychoactive drug or drugs contained in the ayahuasca drink to other drugs in general is misleading. Not all drugs are the same. You don't get high from antibiotics. Comparing ayahuasca with other psychoactive drugs, such as Zoloft, Valium, etc is correct, though. Put there also cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and the like. Also Dramamine and other over the counter drugs are being abused here for the same purpose.

I have a close friend who was addicted to cocaine. It took him 15 years to start getting control of the mental addiction after not having taken the drug physically for that long. 15 years! What kind of power cocaine had imprinted in his mind when it took so long for it to lose its sway.

So, when I watch the video with Graham Hancock, a word comes to mind: pathetic.

I recently reviewed a book on the subject for an acquaintance who is big into ayahuasca. He lives in Ecuador. He does it all the time, with his Shaman. He wrote a messianic book called "The Gospel of 2012 According to Ayahuasca", it is for free in the Internet, anyone can check it out. Same word: pathetic. He told me he practices yoga since adolescent. Like someone said here, if yoga were to live in his house, he would not recognize it even if staring him in the face. No, wait, he surely practices yoga, the "yoga of ayahuasca".

The white-guilt-ridden society of England and the USA is big into this trip. All of a sudden any blessed thing here is bad, and whatever the Shamans of Peru or Ecuador do or say is gospel, they are a "native culture", and bla, bla, bla, in spite of the fact that troves of Peruvians and Ecuadorians, including some Shamans, come here to stay. But the facts often speak otherwise, and many of these shamans are lowlifes who swindle and lie for your money. Check the Internet for the recent deaths from overdose, and the scams being committed there, mostly in Peru.

I am not one to commend you for your bravery, I think you are being foolish.

By the way, what about filing some practice report to let us know how your yoga practice is going. You used to do that beautifully and helped me, before receding into the short script about Naad and the mind field. You are one of the most advanced students of the Acharya and I am sure many would be benefited from them.

When we advance in any system like in science or in yoga or mathematics or in a sports field, a condition is reached where we don't find a way to move forward. If we separate yoga & meditation from anything else in this world we will find that it’s unique and have infinite possibilities where as all other fields have some limitation.

The meditation is a field where you are like a super hero.  A super hero who wins in all situations and have solutions for all issues. He has strong self properties, attributes and understanding and capabilities of using Karma and Dharma in aligned with the universal laws.

There are possible achievements in Yoga where we can break even the rules applied on us. We can break the law applied on us with the powers within, but the question is when these powers will come and how ?

The stronger the self more we will have the powers. This is the time for you to awake and move forward. If you have read my previous statements then answer me "Is there any need to stay in the spirit world for longer period to understand it ?"

There are worlds beyond the Astral realms, there are chances for a practitioner to dissolve or move here and there or lost in these lower astral worlds.

Think beyond, think what’s your real destiny, what gives you more control ?

Evidently and Strictly speaking, true spiritual endeavor(s) amount to a personal affair. It is one unique modality where on the surface or off-the-cuff assessment may not hold, as individuality from this angle implies a variety of levels of dimensions spanning through time immemorial.

Yet, with some consideration the most fallen, the most abject, the most wretched one can be encouraged. Then is that solely a matter of displaced ego?

For, any kind of consideration even down to outright lashes through due pondering amounts to a tender handle; be it from a master, an otherwise concerned or even a stranger. Addressing one’s spirituality is just that, always an opportunity for some humility; and in my opinion generic, platonic critics are not as useful.
