Thoughts Arising from the Navel Region of the Subtle Body

Correspondence:

During a Vipassana retreat, I meditated for hours daily according to the schedule of the course. Once when I did navel center breathing, I did connect the mind completely to the prana movement at the navel. I saw thoughts arising in the form of little rising mounds, like a rising bubble, approaching the surface.

Then I would stop; the rising energy before it would burst out as a manifested thoughts. I do not think that this was the mind producing these thoughts.

Is this an energy from the ahamkara sense of identity adjunct? Or from the core-self even?

MiBeloved's Response:

The sense of identity is in the head of the subtle body. It is in the same location as the core-self which has a position in the existential center of the subtle head but the sense of identity surrounds the core-self as an invisible energy.

If the core-self moved from that default position, then the sense of identity moves with it. This sense of identity cannot be shed or irradiated. The core-self has to retain it so long as it is in the subtle or gross material world.

The sense of identity does not create thoughts but it does appreciate thoughts which are created by the intellect. This appreciation of thoughts might be regarded loosely as a creation of thoughts. If I enter a theatre and see images projected on a white screen, then in a sense the screen is creating the images but actually what is taking place is that the screen is made of a material and a color which is appreciative of the images.

If you saw thought arising from the navel region when you did a mystic practice of infusing prana into the navel, then what was happening there was that the mix of energy at the navel, which was the navel’s normal state-energy plus whatever prana you successfully infused into that, caused bubbles of the conjoint energy to arise from the navel and enter into upper areas of the subtle body.

As this happens, the buddhi intellect orb converted these energies into thoughts. The buddhi intellect orb is the only adjunct that does this, just as there is one gear box in a car which does certain functions. However the buddhi intellect orb can move from its default position in the head of the subtle body. It can instantly move. Usually it stays put in the head but it does on occasion move.

To understand how it moves we can study sexual intercourse. During sexual intercourse the entire focus in the psyche is the genital with some subsidiary focus on any place in the body which has an exaggerated sense of touch. During the experience, there is a movement of the intellect so that it goes down into the center of the energy which is in the genitals. This is a movement of the intellect but soon after there is a climax experience, the intellect resumes its position in the head of the subtle body and abandons its interest in the genitals.

So the intellect does move on occasion and when it does, it seems that the thinking process has moved or that thoughts are appearing elsewhere.

Sometimes a thought energy leaves the chest of the subtle body as a bubble of energy but it remains as a bubble and as soon as it enters the head and hits the intellect, it bursts out in the form of thoughts. This is similar to when fireworks are displayed. We hear a sound when the firing mechanism is triggered but we see nothing initially and then suddenly we see this light in the sky.

So that is the usual procedure where if a thought energy was released from some area of the subtle body below the head, then it takes a little time and then we see this visual display and sound display in the head. But there are exceptions, where the intellect will travel down into the subtle body and read thought energy at the source point where that thought was produced.
