Email Inquiry:

I wanted to know about Sri Vidya and its significance to a person for spiritual growth.

Can it be practiced without a Guru.

MiBeloved’s Response:

I put this question to Swami Rama in the astral world, because when this email arrived, he was present. He said this:

The three aspect of Sri Vidya are:

1. The beneficent deity Lalita Tripurasundari.

2. Her mantra.

3. The yantra known as Sri Chakra.

Sri Vidya can be approached without a guru but with little success. Sri Vidya has three main avenues of approach which are through the murti deity, through the sound mantra and through the diagram mandala as listed above.

Each of these in turn have an internal and external entrance.

Lalita Mahadevi is existing as the most fabulous sexy goddess in the creation. She can be reached in the supernatural world in her form as the ultimate sex goddess. That is the external approach.

Lalita Mahadevi can be reached on the internal plane as kundalini shakti in the subtle body of the yogi. In this place she has two aspects namely the individual partial expression for the yogi’s personal kundalini life force, and the collective power as the cosmic kundalini life force. Both of these are tremendous and are frightening to a yogi who is not a siddha.

As a bee may drown in an ocean of honey so a yogi’s spiritual progress may be compromised if he approaches either the individual or collective kundalini in uninformed way.

==============================

Sri Vidya can be approached by using a call prayer, which is a bija mantra through which one might make contact with the deity or with the deity’s energy.

These mantras are available in books but formerly these mantras were considered to be confidential.

One gets such a mantra either inspired into one’s mind directly or from a guru who is a master ritualist. Each of the Sri Vidya mantras is tied to a deity.

There is an internal route where a mantra is not used but the chakras and the other deity locations in the body of the yogi are used. The yogi goes to these locations and he either repeats the appropriate mantra which causes the location to vibrate or he enters the locale and then finds the vibration of the place and allows that to be converted into a sound energy which he becomes absorbed in.

If he is successful, then he transits from that location in his subtle body to the supernatural world of the deity.

Arriving there, the yogi finds that the beauty of that goddess is far beyond anything he could sustain. She demolishes his ability to experience pleasure. Because it is so unbearable to be in the presence of the beauty and pleasure yielding nature of the deity, the yogi begs for release from that heaven.

Sri Vidya can be reached also by using a yantra externally. This is a diagram which is drawn as per instructions in the related tantra. After drawing this and entering it into a ritual as directed by an able knowledgeable priest, the disciple may make contact with the deity. This path usually leads to ritual worship and one becomes a pujari or purohita.

Some yogis find this yantra configuration within the sushumna nadi passage or at some other place within the subtle body. After reaching there in samadhi, the yogi focuses himself to become absorbed by the location and then he is transited to the world of the Devi.

From the astral world, Swami Rama gave the above information about Sri Vidya. He wanted to conclude with this statement:

Sri Vidya should not be approached without a guru because the power involved is beyond a limited being’s control. It is possible to approach her without a guru but it is not advisable. In other words if you are going to concentrate and then compress some uranium ore, it would be foolish to do so without other more advanced physicists being informed. This is because the compressed energy might explode in your face.

Therefore since kundalini or cosmic life force is so powerful, one should not get any ideas about controlling it to an absolute degree. That is not possible. Consider that it is already within the control of something or someone, so there is no need for a controller at this stage of the cosmic development.

Limited kundalinis can be controlled by limited beings but the cosmic kundalini cannot be controlled by those same beings.

In so far as Sri Vidya is the Mahadevi Lalita Sundari, a limited being cannot control her. In fact she is the ultimate mother, the Cosmic Vagina and so it is best to get it out of your head about controlling such a reality. Try to imaging a woman who is the sum total of all the most beautiful woman in this earth and in the celestial and subterranean places. Put all those beautiful women into one female and consider if you can compel or control her.

Now take that woman and then make her a million trillion times more sexually appealing and then consider if you could deal with that. Where and what would you be in the presence of Someone like that?

Lastly, I request that all the students just focus on getting their individual limited kundalinis in order and under control, to eradicate its animal instincts and to elevate it to the crown chakra. If you would all do this, then I would be pleased.
