Success with Naad

The efforts I made with naad over the years, are now beginning to pay off in real experiences. Sometimes one practices a certain method and nothing substantial comes of it. This is like when a man who is a fruit vendor goes into the forest to harvest wild fruits. He knows where a certain fruit grows on certain trees in some secret part of the forest but when he arrives at that part, it appears that the fruits were already picked by another thief.

He is a thief and so are other fruit vendors but somehow fate permitted that a rival thief got to the place first and picked the fruits. Now what will he do because he has to have an income to feed his family. He begins to think how messed up things are, that as soon as the fruits were ripe for picking some other person came there and got those fruits. How unfortunate. Now his family will be imperiled because he won’t have any money by such an honest means.

Of course he is a thief, stealing from nature, but he does not see it in that way because every creature thinks that it has a right to raid nature for whatever it needs for its upkeep.

Sometimes one gets a yoga practice from a yoga guru and for one reason or the other, for the fault of the guru or the disciple or just because fate has turned its face against you, the process fails to pay off. So then after a life of trying with that process one faces death as a farce yogi, and passes from this world just as any other person. Then people who knew that one did yoga, begin to back-bite like this:

Look at him. He could have raised a nice family and provided for their upkeep. But no, he stubbornly kept saying that he was a yogi, a transcendentalist. The guy was obviously a head case, dreaming up imaginary things about some hereafter which certainly does not exist. Who has ever come back from death to tell us about it? So now look at him. He is just like the rest of us with an old crippled body, trying to take various medical treatments. But he is a disgrace because he did not dedicate himself to his relatives and their upkeep. The poor idiot!

With naad I got lucky. It is paying off. I am able to reach the chit akash within the subtle body, within the so called self or psyche. Instead of busting my brains in concentrating trying to reach the chit akash which is illusive and distant, I may reach it from within the psyche using the naad sound.

I have some more effort to make. I have to invest some more time, in taking naad here and there in the subtle body. But I have the confidence that I can do it because of getting some result in the practice.

Even though I was teaching some students this morning, and teaching is a distraction, still I was able to reach chit akash soon after focusing on naad, where the inner atmosphere in the psyche, took a light gold glow along with the naad sound. Some silent peace! Nothing sensation but transcendental for sure.

Yogi Bhajan attended the teaching session and supervised some exercise which I normally do not so, for the benefit of a student who was present. He was saying:

This student is to be my disciple. Teach this. Teach that. Thank you.
