The ancient Mongols believe that the soul lives in the head. So when he captured his most hated enemies Genghis Khan would have their eyes, ears, nose and mouth sewn shut before they were decapitated, so that their soul could not escape the death of their body. My memory would probably seep out through my neck in a white fog.

This is from White Out, the Secret Life of Heroin by Michael W.Clune. I just ordered this for Sir Paul. He just was in hospital with a broken hip or something, being threatened by death, a threat which is served to every living creature at every moment but which is mostly ignored, thanks to our uncanny ability not to face reality.
Someone on death row wants that last cup of coffee. Someone wants that final cigarette. Someone wants that final toke of marijuana. Someone wants to have sex with the partner. Someone wants to see his mother. Someone is asking for a talk with a Catholic Priest. Someone else said he wanted to chant Hare Krishna.
Okay, so for Sir Paul he is dangerous art-philosopher. He cannot have a last wish. It will not be granted, Instead the judge ordered that he be sent White Out, so that he could see what is the hereafter. Let him take a look at the next penitentiary. For him there will be no release. One life jailed, then transferred to the next, the afterlife, and there to be jailed as well. Let him take a look because all that shit he used to tell the judge during his trial is written in this book except that what he used to say he did not believe but now he can believe his own crazy theories when he sees that someone else has testified under oath about it.
There are certain books which one should read before one dies, that is if one is literate in the relevant language. Even literacy which we take for granted is a luxury. Can you imagine even thinking of doing it; say in a cat or cow body.
The only language one knows then is called “I-take-it-I-attempt-to-enjoy-it.”
Let us discuss that one paragraph from the heroin addict’s book:

First of all, the Mongolian belief that the soul lives in the head is true. There is no doubt about that. Does this mean that those who say that the soul lives in the heart or chest are wrong?
No, it does not. Let us take these two ideas and admit both of them into the notebook of history. For operating thinking the soul lives in the head. For operating feelings the soul lives in the heart. How about that? A man has got an office and a home. Usually we send letters to his home but really he might spend more time in the office as compared to the time spent in the home.
Since the soul’s most frequently used location is in the head, Genghis Khan wanted to be sure that it was trapped in the astral darkness there as nothing forever. Obviously Genghis was mistaken because the soul is a transcendental phenomenon, at least it is an abstract object which will escape the body any which way it can.
The writer suggested that if Genghis did what he wanted to do and then the head of that body was decapitated, the deceased soul would escape through the neck. Actually this is exactly what would happen.
And in what form would that soul most likely to be in?
The writer said it would be a white fog. Okay so let me help you here to say it would be a white astral fog of indefinite random shape like a curl of white smoke from when green branches are burnt.
And why would an astral body take such a form since usually it takes a form which resembles its physical body?
The reason is that under the circumstances the life force would not get to do things in its usual way. It will try to rush out of the body and collect all the psychological energies but it would have to do it in a random way, just as when in an emergency someone has to leave his house. He will grab up a few things, if there is time to take anything. He will rush out in a hurry with his mind in a mess, disorganize.
Just the thought of being decapitated is disheartening and invokes confusion, and you talk about the Now, what would happen to all of my Now cult friends, what would be their view about Now at that time, when Genghis orders that their eyes, nose, ears and mouth be sewn up, no anesthesia, no modern niceties, no Amnesty International. No Red Cross. This will be done in full consciousness of the body and then one will be haul off to the chopping block forth with. Wikileaks will be nowhere around, because Julian Assange’s body is to be manufactured some 800 or more years down the road. And nature has no instructions to predate it and won’t.

I am a pretty curious person, so lately when the Acharya hovers around a book, or recommends it somehow, I order it and read it. Done!
