Scattered Light in Subtle Body

This morning during bhastrika, Swami Muktananda was astrally looking on and making some remarks. He was interested in the scatter-light-in-the-trunk of the subtle body kriyas. In this system, which is done after one has pulled kundalini up into the brain, the student then forgets about dealing with the kundalini and the spinal chakras, and then just deals with the mass of subtle energy which is in the trunk of the subtle body.
The practice is to remove all heavy astral energy from the trunk of the subtle body and to scatter light all over in the trunk so that no part of it has heavy astral energy (prana).
At first the student will do this haphazardly where the scattered light energy will be here or there in the subtle body and where there will be bunched-up sets of dark astral force which the student might pull out of the trunk or cause to explode and burn in the trunk. However after sometime with this preliminary stage, the student will reach a stage where at the beginning of this practice there is a scattered energy downwards, then there will be energy in the middle of the trunk and then up under the shoulders, high in the trunk.
This will happen first in the front of the body and then it will happen in the back of the body, then it will happen in the middle of the body; and then at last in the center of the body.
Here are those nine locations:
|
1 |
Pubic scatter |
|
2 |
Navel scatter |
|
3 |
Sternum-front ribs scatter |
|
4 |
Sacral back region scatter |
|
5 |
Middle back scatter |
|
6 |
Scapula bone scatter |
|
7 |
Central lower trunk scatter |
|
8 |
Central middle trunk scatter |
|
9 |
Central chest under-shoulders scatter |
When done successfully the student will see this scattered light to be like strands of translucent light in chaotic stacks without any specific alignment, very random and disordered. This is okay. The important thing is that the heavy astral energy has disappeared. That is the objective. There are no chakras to see here and no order system of nadis. This is like if you have a sack and you throw translucent self-luminous glass slivers in it at random.

Apana is correct but it is also that prana has two meanings which are prana as the astral oxygen and prana as all the various types of astral energy combined.
In that usage, apana is prana, vimana is prana and so on. This is why sometimes you will read that there are five kinds of prana, and then prana will be listed among the five kinds.
See this page:
All astral energy is prana but when we want specifics, we say that only the astral oxygen is prana and the astral carbon dioxide is apana.
So there is a double meaning for the word. In that sentence prana means astral energy without specifying the various types.
Let's to go English. Usually we say air and by that we mean fresh air. But actually there is differentiation where you say stale air, polluted air and fresh air.

In this particular practice one does not think in terms of apana because this practice is not the elementary kundalini yoga practice which deals with kundalini and chakras.
In this practice there are no chakras, there is no kundalini in the trunk, there is just energy, random energy in the trunk. There is no assortment into apana, vyana and so on. There is no organisation in the subtle body to make it correspond to the physical form which has to digest food, pass food waste and so on.
So the whole consideration changes.
