Predictions in Dreams

Most people consider the astral to be distinct from the physical and there is a mystique about anything psychic in our society. For me it is more like the two existences which run next to each other and which might be related.

I don’t see the psychic side as a much different to the physical. What I mean is that in the psychic world there is a continuity on the various levels, just as in the physical world there is a continuity. If you are building a company, and you hire say about 20 employees to make a product, each day runs on from the previous day because you have to keep pushing out items for sale to customers. One day runs into the next.

Predictions only have to do with your estimation of how much you can produce on a certain day to meet a customer’s demand. The prediction itself is just part of the process and sometimes you meet it and sometimes you don’t because of things which happen which are beyond your control. There is no mystique to it. You have to acquire raw materials, manage your employees, advertise to pull in customers and meet deadlines. It is all flowing into itself and then there is success or failure for the business.

So in the astral world, it is going on in the same way, but there is a correlation between some physical events and what happens in the astral with the astral usually leading the physical. Just as on the physical side, we usually have to think of something before we do it, some aspects of astral existence must be worked out before it can occur on the physical side.

Thus if you become aware of those aspects, then you can predict the physical. But it is not really a big deal. In one of the Yoga books from India, called Bhagavad Gita, there is a story about a warrior Arjuna who saw how some warriors were killed on the supernatural level days before those warriors were actually killed on the physical level.

That was not a prediction type of thing, even though from the physical angle, a person can say that Arjuna predicted that on the basis of having the apparition of the defeated warriors days before their demise. It wasn’t a prediction in reference to this world, it was just a fact of what was happening on a supernatural plane of existence. And since it was a fact there, it was to be a fact here only because that level of existence presupposed this one or managed this one.

When an architect sits down and draws a national monument with all detailed plans of its layout, is that a prediction? We usually do not say so, but actually it is in the sense that after awhile that drawing becomes reality as a building somewhere in Washington D.C or London.

But this is only true if the architect was commissioned by the Congress or the Parliament. If the artist was you or me, our idea would remain as an idea only, because we are not connected into the authority system which constructs public buildings. We are not in a position to command the political national scene.

Thus if you are on an astral level which feeds into this one and which controls this one, then whatever you see there is going to happen here, not because of predictions but because that level happens to be the precursor of this one.

And if you are on an astral level that has little or no influence on this one, then whatever you see there would have happened there and will never occur here. It would be real there but never be real here, just as my blue-print of the national monument will remain in my office and never become a reality as a national achievement.

If you meet someone on the astral side and get information which proves to be true, it means that you met someone who was in a position to influence what occurs on this side. I was teaching kundalini yoga and meditation, now for over 30 years and most of the instructions I received from advanced teachers were given to me on the astral side. The truth of that comes into reality, when I follow those instructions and advance further in the practice or when sometimes, I find the same instructions in book like Bhagavad Gita. In that way I have learnt how to verify the instructions and my confidence in my memory of what happens on the astral side has increased.

Usually people have confidence on the physical side, on what takes place physically only and they dismiss dreams as illusion, therefore if one opens oneself to doubtful people one will become more and more materialistic and less and less psychic. Even people who you are related to and whom you love, might be materialistic to the core, and thus if you share with them your spiritual and psychic experiences, they will try to discourage you.

So you asked about prophetic dreams and dreams which work out issues. Actually you have made more advancement than you realize, because that is the situation, which is that there are dreams in which one works out issues and hassles, in dealings between one’s astral body and the astral bodies of others, and then there are directive dreams in which one makes contact with an astral level which is the blueprint for this physical plane, such that if one recalls what happens there, it gives on insight into what will soon take place on this physical level.
