Prana Into Apana in the Cells

I am continuing the study of the infusion of prana into apana in the cells, tissues and tendons themselves rather than doing the exchange through the lungs which is the traditional way.

It appears that one can only do this if one has two favors, one is the grace of a yoga guru who mastered this, and the other is the trees who supply the fresh air which we breathe.

Without considering the trees it might seem that fresh air comes out of nowhere, as if it is just being supplied just like that without persons being involved. For instance if you need carrots and you do not farm, then you know for sure that you are not going to find that out in the wild, in the forest. That is a specially cultivated crop. It is not like grass or dandelions. Some humans grow that. This is how it is acquired. I may not meet the farmer personally but I know that some human agency is involved. Some personal contact is involved.

What about air? Is a person involved in that? Is that just coming out of atmosphere impersonally without the personal touch? Recently Lahiri Baba showed me that I overlooked this personal touch of the air, and that it was costing me some needed advancement.

Once you make contact with the trees who are supplying that air, then you begin to see them as mothers and fathers nurturing you, you actually see them overhead in their subtle forms over you as you do the breath infusion. Their energy passes through the subtle body as a nurturing energy like when a child suckles its mother breasts.

The new system I am using which involved getting the fresh air directly to the cells and doing the exchange at the cells themselves, is one where one sees that the carbon dioxide is dissolved right there at the cell location and not at the location of the lungs. A new type of energy is created and it has a different effect on the subtle body, something which I cannot verbalize at this time.

MiBeloved's Response:

This procedure is being done by me after doing kapala bhati/bhastrika practice since 1972, after having learnt it from Yogi Bhajan. Some of the intervening years between then and now I did not practice but mostly I did and when I did not due to circumstances which imposed restrictions on the practice, I used to practice in my astral body any way, as the astral system is expert at breaking the restrictions which are enforced on the physical system.

Imprisoning people physically in no way defines what the subtle body of those persons may or may not do. The physical body can be restricted but when it sleeps the astral body may break through the restrictions and do other things. Some people, like for instance family member and friends, who were with me when I did not do physically practice are of the opinion that I did not practice during those times when for one reason or the other I could not or did not. I usually do not object to their ridiculous and psychically blind statements but I practiced through the years since 1973. The reason why I am doing it now and also why I am still improving some postures and some breath techniques. It is the continuation of the practice through the years.

Why did I state this in answer to your request for details?

It is because what I currently practice, developed after years of efforts beginning in 1972 and also there were some residual effects from practice in past lives. This should be taken into account so that a student knows that he or she may not be able to follow the process which I do, due to a lack of a background in this.

You know about kapala bhati. Even if a beginner makes an attempt to do bhastrika, what will happen in fact is that the person will do some type of kapala bhati with focus on the inhale or exhale and then after that becomes a reflex the student may advance into doing bhastrika even if the person is not formally trained and supervised.

The infant surely wants to walk, especially after repeatedly seeing siblings and adults in the home do this. Still the infant must first crawl before walking. If the infant crawls of its own accord walking will take place. If one practices sincerely using the correct method, then over time it will develop in a higher level of proficiency.

Sometimes when we read about pranayama practice, it sounds very mysterious. Then, when we practice, we just cannot wrap our minds about what was written by the ancient mahayogins. Some of us oversimplify what is written and that suites our fancy. We then tell people how we mastered the techniques. In this way we get some sense of security that we are yogis and other people also derive that confidence from us, even though there is really no contact with the real process.

In Chapter 4 of Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna introduced Arjuna to the set disciplines which may be practiced by a student for attaining spiritual perfection. Can we really understand what Krishna said? Is it all about an oversimplified oneness or a vague definition which we categorize as samadhi? Here are the verses from that area of the Gita which have to do with pranayama practice (my translation in Kriya Yoga Bhagavad Gita):

अपाने जुह्वति प्राणं

प्राणेऽपानं तथापरे ।

प्राणापानगती रुद्ध्वा

प्राणायामपरायणाः ॥४.२९॥

apāne juhvati prāa

prāe'pāna tathāpare

prāāpānagatī ruddhvā

prāāyāmaparāyaā (4.29)

apāne — in exhalation; juhvati — they offer; prāam — inhalation; prāe — in inhalation; 'pāna = apāa — in exhalation; tathāpare = tathā— similarly + apare — others; prāāpāna gatī = prāa — energizing air + apāna — de-energizing air + gatī— channel; ruddhvā — restraining; prāāyāmaparāyaā = prāa — inhaling + āyāma — regulate + parāyaā — intent

Some offer inhalation into the exhalation channels; similarly others offer the exhalation into the inhalation channels, thus being determined to restrain the channels of the energizing and de-energizing airs. (4.29)

अपरे नियताहाराः

प्राणान्प्राणेषु जुह्वति ।

सर्वेऽप्येते यज्ञविदो

यज्ञक्षपितकल्मषाः ॥४.३०॥

apare niyatāhārā

prāānprāeu juhvati

sarve'pyete yajñavido

yajñakapitakalmaā (4.30)

apare — others; niyatāhārā — persons restrained in diet; prāān — fresh air; prāeu — into the previous inhalations; juhvati — impel; sarve — all; 'pyete (apyete) = apy (api) — also + ete — these; yajñavido = yajñavida — those who know the value of an act of sacrifice; yajñakapitakalmaā = yajña — austerity and religious ceremony + kapita — destroyed, removed + kalmaā — impurities

Others who were restrained in diet, impel fresh air into the previously inhaled air. All these ascetics whose impurities were removed by austerity and religious ceremony understand the value of an act of sacrifice. (4.30)
