AM Practice

Quality of practice was standard (in between good and poor). First off, I overslept and woke up at 6:13 instead of the usual 4:30 AM, so that compromised the length of the practice, which consisted of 65 minutes in a motel room with the air conditioning off and the window open.

Svadhyaya: Returned to “Meditation Pictorial”, continued with Chapter 12 “Mystic Inside”. Reviewed last night the different ways of cleaning the mind in Chapter 12. This is quite important because a trashy mind will definitely prevent proper meditation.

Dedication: Practice dedicated to Lord Shiva after 5-minute mantra incantation and prayer.

Breath Infusion: 30 minutes of Bhastrika prânâyâma in various asanas. Kundalini was solicited at the end successfully. Meditation followed immediately.

Meditation: 30 minutes meditation on the back of the head in shavasana (cadaver position = reclining). For the first time I used a technique for cleaning the mind explained in Page 144 of Chapter 12 of “Meditation Pictorial”. This technique, which takes 3-5 minutes, was proposed by Dr. Ramamurti Mishra. It consists of opening a gap in the forehead from which trashy thoughts and bad energy in general are vented out. With eyes closed, and while doing this exercise, I noticed many foggy speckles in the area of the forehead and could visualize as they receded in the distance. From now on, I will incorporate this technique into the daily sadhana.  Other than that, meditation was the usual struggle to keep concentration on the back of the head, as Naad sound was not located or anchored into.

Dream recall: Two dreams recalled clearly. They were of social and family import.
