For those who practice forcefully, in a very intense way, the skill of yoga will be achieved very soon.

Jai Shri Krishna

Om Yogi Madhvacharya Namah

Today I woke up for AM practice at 3 AM (Brahma-Muhurta). First engaged in some reading to ready myself.

The pranayama session was forceful for about 35 minutes.

Meditation followed for about the same time. As usual nowadays I tuned to Naad and stayed there at the back of the head. During the meditation, it was impressed upon me the importance of the "little things" that contribute to a successful practice, which we often take for granted, or simply, sabotage with our wrong behaviors:

Waking up early in the morning: This with time becomes customary and automatic. I have not used an alarm clock for a while. But the key here is to go to bed early. Otherwise, there always will be a struggle, and a struggle prevents concentration needed for a successful practice. You cannot steal sleep from your allotted time without negative consequences.

Diet: Even though a vegetarian and/or Sattvic diet is recommended, it is not so much what we eat, but how much and when. No heavy eating at all should be engaged in after the noon meal. Breath infusion increases efficiency of digestion, thus decreasing food consumption. Avoid processed food completely, as it does compromise the immune system, allowing for colds, flues and other maladies to enter and compromise the Kundalini Yoga practice.

Media and other impressions: The impressions and information that we allow to enter our minds in critical as it can create havoc with the emotions and feelings and bring turmoil and unwanted thoughts. TV is verily poison.

Sleeping Time: It is critical to approach sleeping time with the proper attitude and to make sure that the sleeping phase is entered only after discharging energies from the mind that act as eddies or loops that prevent relaxation. This can be done by a recount of the day while placing the legs high on a chair while the body is resting on the floor. Once in bed, tune to Naad and have quiet aspiration to promote the kind of spiritual dreams that foster yoga practice and promote dream recall.
