Praise and thanks Swami Sivananda!

Praise and thanks Swami Vishnu-devananda!

Praise and thanks Yogi Madhvacharya!!

For the last 2 weeks I've been training my two most spiritually advanced, yogic minded female students in the kundalini yoga process as taught to me by yogi madhvacharya.

They are mother and daughter, mom in her 70s, daughter early 50’s.

They had been witness to a spiritual/mental/physical transformation that had taken place with me during my training time with Michael and after.

This greatly motivated them to pursue me to teach them the practice as well.

These ladies have been working with me for the last 3 years doing a more Sivananda style practice.  They've always been consistent and disciplined therefore they have a willingness to listen and do exactly as i instructed, which aided greatly in their quick progress.

Of course, they have a long way to go, as I do too, but their desire to transcend the material world, to move up and out of this vibrational mode, motivates them to take on this much more advanced yoga path with vigor and positivity.

My training with them was sequenced just as Michaels.  Starting with prayers, asana and breath infusion, meditation and then class.  This went on every morning for 2 weeks.

I showed them how to prepare the morning meal as well as encouraged them in the avoidance of certain foods, behaviors and instructed them on the Yoga Sutras as translated by Michael.

I am now back to my own morning practice at this time, which i am happy about, I missed it of course,

but will resume with the women again next week for several days to reinforce what they have learned and to check their meditation/dream journals.

As for my own practice, things are coming along nicely.  This morning was a very strong practice with the presence of a Yogi felt, but unclear who it was exactly.

At the end of this morning’s practice, just as I had done during my evening session last night, I ended with the downward facing dog form, which is an inversion where you are stretching much like a dog does, hands flat, hips lifted way up, tailbone lifting, heels grounding and with the hands and arms, pressing chest in toward the thighs with the chin toward the chest, breath infusion throughout.

dog pose

When im ready to release this pose, I inhale fully, hold the breath and drop down into a straight armed cobra pose, meaning that usually cobra has the elbows bent, i straighten the arms to bring the deep bend into the lower part of the back.  Once i drop down into cobra, I powerfully draw the energy up from the legs, bottom, hips, belly, engaging the bhandas tightly all the way up into the head and a powerful bliss force of kundalini blasts up through the upper body.  Loud naad, bright internal lights.

cobra pose

Last night i experienced brief electrical heart palpitations as the energy moved upward,

and this morning when i did the same movements with even stronger focus and pulling power, my heart stopped briefly for several moments.

This did not scare or bother me, I was aware of how the energy was moving through my head and chest, and back into the heart.

I knew the precise moment when my heart would resume its natural rhythm which it did.

My respirations eventually returned to normal but they had also ceased and were unnecessary until things settled back down again.

There were several minutes of pleasant observation after this experience.

Meditation was good.  Naad is always available. One issue with meditation continues to be my tendency to fall asleep about half and hour in, only the morning session is this a challenge, but i’ll continue to work on staying alert in the mind space and attentive to naad to keep me awake.

I do have some very interesting dream encounters though when i fall into sleep.

Interesting experience! Thanks for sharing!

Q: How is the neck lock done while in Cobra Posture?

devaPriya Yogini 4 years ago

Hi Thomer~

The neck lock is done normally because the head isn't bend back.  It's a modified cobra some would call 'up face dog' since the arms are straight, but the face is looking straight ahead. Just pull the chin in toward the throat as usual.

The key seems for me seems to be pointing the toes and strongly contracting the legs, thighs, hips, bottom and mentally pulling lots of energy up out of the lower body including lots of focus on the sex chakra and pulling energy out of there...Pulling it all up into the head.

Hope this helps!
