Practice Affected by Heat and High Humidity

From my studies of Ayurveda, it is obvious I fall in the category of Pitta Dosha (Fire, heat constitution).

Only 3 weeks ago, I was practicing early in the morning on the beaches of Varna, on the Black Sea, my current profile pic shows one of those days when it was around 45 Fahrenheit in the open, and I was practically naked and enjoying it.

Miami is a different story.

It has been raining relentlessly here for weeks now, and the humidity ranges from 90 - 100%. It is hot indeed, but it is the humidity that makes it feel much hotter because the sweat cannot evaporate from the skin.

Can't do the practice outside because of the rain, but it is the same heat and humidity anyhow. Because of the wet conditions and the many trees outside, add to that the mosquitoes.

Does this affect the practice? You betcha.

Of course, one can turn on the AC, but this goes against this Kundalini Yoga as taught by the Acharya.

Nothing is perfect, anyhow. Swami Hariharananda used to say that the "winter" is perfect time for Kriya Yoga practice.

Practice must go on and one must adapt to any conditions, trying to make the best out of it.

The fact that there is air to breathe and prana to ingest is a miracle in itself.

---- a reason to say Praise the Lord!

Overlook the inconveniences and push ahead.

an old Christian song:

count your blessing, name them one by one.

I just stay inside with a regular fan blowing on you, windows wide open, keeping the bugs out with a screen. This is my solution.

I tried to practice outside, and I had the same problems. I have a kapha Dosa. Good luck.

Similar conditions up here in Sarasota, Alfredo,

not quite as bad as Miami though.

I too am also Pitta apparently.

The mosquitoes are the worst part.

Keep it up and before you know it we'll be in the beautiful Fall weather again.

Great song Michael~ I listened to three versions..this one's the best.

Count Your Blessings

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes, nice links and recommendations.

And yes, Yogini Ji, I also believe you are predominantly Pitta Dosha.
