Potential Dysfunctionality of My Next Parents

Last night with someone, I was discussing how transmigration works. This person like myself is still using a physical body and has not been left out in the cold of the astral world for good as yet.
This person was insisting on defining the next life, on designing who the parents would be and what they ought to do during childhood. Of course when we think like this we are composing everything as if we are the center of the existence, with our parents constructing a life for our fulfillment at their expense.
In any case, I happen to be in Trinidad with another friend in the astral world, when this conversation was taking place so I tried to clarify the issue of rebirth as to the probability that anyone of us will get exactly what we desire. It is so nice this New Age idea that we construct our own destiny and the universe just dances to our tune but that is so much fantasy that it is not worth even mentioning in a serious conversation like this.
Since I was in Trinidad I remember a little about navigation which I studied while I was on the island around 1966. Then my father was a marine pilot. I was studying Geometry to pass a GCE exam in which elementary navigation was part of the syllabus.
To make my friend understand what happens for rebirth in respect to what we think should happen. I drew a map of Trinidad and the northern part of South America. I then explained that if the two of us were to leave on a floating raft with some idea of beaching at say the mouth of a river in Guyana, it is hardly likely that we would ever get to that destination. In the first place even if we were seasoned seamen, we do not know what storms we may reach in the ocean once we depart. A storm might pitch the raft, cause us to lose footing on the boat and have us killed at sea without ever seeing land even.
If that did not happen and if we were expert navigators, it is likely that we will miscalculate the directions and may end up somewhere else in the world. In the sex you! book, I covered some of this in terms of what one sees as the opportunity for rebirth and what actually happens when one takes the opportunity. There is much give and take in this issue.
Sure like the New Agers propose, one has a say but that is only part of the equation. Other voices also have their say. There are voices like the political situation in the country at the time of one’s birth. There are the educational opportunities in that location. There is the potential dysfunctionality of either or both parents. There might be the support or lack of support of other relatives. There might be war which politicians find to be expedient.
One may also be checkmated in having a potential father or mother being switched while one is already in the process of becoming identical to a sperm particle. Thus what one sees in the hereafter just before taking an embryo may not be what it is in fact when one does become that life-form.
