Agnisāra Series-1: Subtle Body Anatomy

Agnisāra is a Sanskrit compound consisting of the terms agni and sāra (सार).

Agni means Fire, sāra means essence or substance

Agnisāra means the essence of fire, a classical hatha yoga technique.

This is the Master database of all my writings

Even though they are analytical, some of the genres are interlinked. Eg: Nadi, Chakra, Kundalini, Higher conscious states → all are linked.

From November 2021

I have been studying and researching Agnisāra practice since November 2021.

This is a powerful practice and has several layers to practice than what is seen by the naked eye.

In the subtle body, a fire tornado in the abdomen is created to destroy all the intestinal and pelvic cage organs.

The ultimate goal is to destroy all the intestinal, reproduction & excretion orbs to form yoga Siddha form.

The physical and subtle body are interspaced, so the physical organs will be used interchanging with the subtle body counterparts. Agnisara is a subtle body practise.

References:

  1. Understanding Human Anatomy is critical. I learned from this site
  2. Learned Agnisara from Madhvacharya's notes and teaching
  3. Swami Rama and Thirumoolar have mastered to a great degree in this practice

Approach:

Madhva indicates that burning away the intestinal complex will gradually evolve to the next stages and burn the excretion and reproduction faculties too. I am still in the process, if there is more to add to the canvas, I will publish it.

3 Layers of the practice:

  1. Agni-sara → Burning out the intestinal mass in the subtle body
  2. Agni-yauna → Burning out the reproduction faculty in the subtle body
  3. Agni-guda → Burning out the excretion faculty in the subtle body

Subtle Body Anatomy:

3 Major Orbs are critical to understanding how Agnisara targets them:

  1. Intestinal Orb
    1. Upper Intestinal Orb
    2. Lower Intestinal Orb
    3. Side Intestinal Orb (this is critical)
  2. Reproduction Faculty Orb
  3. Excretion Faculty Orb

See the picture for further understanding. I will explain the intricacies in the coming post on these topics.
