Naad Sound Left/Right

Question:

Is there a difference hearing naad sound if it's coming from the left or right?

Kirpal Singh stated that when the sound is coming from the left, one shouldn't pay attention to it because it will give a debasing effect.

Usually when I sit for meditation I hear it almost every time stronger and closer coming from the left side than the right side, thus I put my attention where it is heard the loudest.

If some light can be shed upon the differences and about this debasing effect he talks about..

The source I got this from:

http://www.santmat-thetruth.de/buecher.html

Book Name: Kabir Sahib – The Anurag Sagar – Ocean of Love. (Pg 29 & 30)

Thanks..

Kirpal Singh Guruji’s instruction is for hearing sound current from a static state. If you notice he does not say anything about doing pranayama practice. So if you do it with pranayama practice the instruction is different.

Now the old books state that naad is heard on the right side. Most yogis have found that to be a fact. So then the strongest intensity is on the right side and that is where one should focus.

However some persons have a keener hearing sense on the left side. In their case the instruction has to be reversed where they will focus on the left side and not on the right side.

Most people are right handed and so general instructions will state something from that perspective but for those who are left handed, obviously that instruction has to be reversed.

Now if you are doing breath infusion before sitting to meditate, then the instruction is again different because the breath infusion will cause the subtle body to shift upwards in frequency which will affect how naad is heard.

The main thing is to go where the sound is the most intense, and this may be in the middle back, down in the neck, just outside the head and so on, depending on the status of the subtle body when you meditate. Guruji has said the right ear side because normally without doing any breath infusion, most people who hear naad will hear it on the right side the most because usually we have keener hearing on one side than on the other side.

I am a lefty.

In my case Naad sound always comes stronger from the left ear, left part of the head, and that is also where the node is found. However, at times it is very strong on the right too, never quite. Of course, this is after breath infusion.

In Dharma Singh Khalsa' book Meditation as Medicine he says that in a book by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird "The Secret Life of Plants it was inferred that plants could somehow hear but this makes no sense since plants have no ears. So it might be that it is a vibration that we respond to. And we would respond even if we had no hearing

Jagadish Chandra Bose made pioneering research about the feelings of plants, using a special instrument, the "crescograph".

Plants hear through vibration. We do also, except that we have an echo chamber and a sounding board (ear drum). Some plants have echo chambers, in their leaf formation and flower design, which are used for hearing.

The key feature is to understand that if you were in a plant body, you would be limited to the facilities of that form. If the spirit using a plant body was transferred into a human form, it would increase in sense perception as well.

Some plants like the so called sensitive plants, have very pronounced feelings. There is a plant like that in the tropics which has a compound leaf formation. If you touch it, the mini-leaves fold-in immediately. Then it waits a few minutes and it unfolds again.

These various life forms in the material world developed with specific senses for either exploitation or protection. The dog's ears go up to listen for the rabbit so that it can catch and eat that. But if a lion attacks the dog, then the dog has to go into a defense posture to protect itself.

We human beings are no different. Check our US defense budget. Check out businesses abroad for stealing resources.

It is a big switch if we make that vital decision to use the senses for spiritual progress.
