Naad / Sense of Identity Dissolution

Srila Yogesh showed me a slow dissolve procedure of the sense of identity energy which surrounds the core-self. The sense of identity is the most stubborn psychic component which the core-self has to deal with.
There is the buddhi intellect orb which we use in calculation, planning and in the formation of ideas. That is one problem, such that there is a whole section of yoga called buddhi yoga which is just for controlling and bringing this organ to order so that it no longer does automatic but spiritually-destructive mental and emotional acts.
But if buddhi yoga is kindergarten, then atma yoga is the university level of practice.
Atma yoga has as its preliminary aspect the study and power-curtailment of the sense of identity which surrounds the core-self and which it appears the core-self just cannot shake off or separate from. Please do not even think of mentioning ego and such silly words from the vocabulary of Western psychology.
This sense of identity is a psychic instrument not an attitude or an assumed conditioning or identity. A horn makes a sound but the horn itself is not a sound. It is a gadget. The sense of identity makes ego. It makes conditioned character but it is a psychic instrument.
You can listen to naad as much as you like and you can even go crazy listening to it and buy drugs for curing tinnitus, but until you can listen to it with dedication and for a long time in daily meditation, it won’t serve any useful purpose.
The importance of naad comes from an instruction one would receive from a yoga-guru. The confidence in naad comes from that, because there is no other way for one to think that listening to it has any value. One has confidence in naad on the basis of confidence in someone who claimed its usefulness.
First there is the discovery of the location of naad where you stop thinking that it is everywhere. You find its general location. Then you find its node location or the particular mental space or zone where it is loudest and most pronounced.
Then there is the listening to naad sound with focus in the direction from which it emanates the most. You are here. Naad is there. You turn to it. You listen to it. Your attention is lifted from the frontal part of the subtle head (mental chamber) and is placed in the direction of naad.
Then there is the going-to-meet naad. You are here. Naad is there and you are continuously moving yourself (core-self) to go to naad, to penetrate naad. Is there something on the other side of the place from which naad sound emanates?
Then there is the relocating into naad. You are not here. Naad is not there but rather, you are with naad. You are in the node of naad, with its resonance surrounding you. This is a movement, call it a mental movement if you like. When you are located in naad near a node of naad, near a central place from which naad blares into your psyche, then you know that you have relocated because you are no longer at the place where the core-self is situated by default. In fact as soon as you move out of naad, you will find yourself back in that default position. That is the proof of an actual movement or relocation.
After this is mastered, where you are accustomed to doing this in meditation or where it just happens spontaneously in meditation, then you will move to the next stage of practice, which is where you find that as soon as you sit to do meditation and become conscious of naad, you are pulled backward and become adhered to naad. This happens spontaneously at that stage. You are still facing to the frontal part of the head but you are now in the back part of the head as if your back is glued to naad vortex. Even though you are facing the frontal part, you are not looking in that direction. There is no frontal vision. Your vision is focused to the naad node.
This is not about seeing anything necessarily. It is about the interest-energy which vision usually uses. You cannot perceive anything in the fontal part of the head because your interest energy is not flowing in that direction and without it you visual perception is blank.
After this practice was done for some months, if not years, then you will find yourself being there as just an existence which is surrounded by a transparent energy on all sides. This energy is the sense of identity. It will seem that you are it and it is you. In fact however it is a distinct psychic component which monitors all of your transactions on this side of existence.
Once this happens regularly in meditation, then something else will develop where you will find that the part of you which touches the naad sound the most, seems to dissolve. This sense of identity then begins to melt away, disappear or dissipate in its areas which touched the naad node.
This does not mean that the sense of identity is gone forever. As soon as you leave the meditation the sense of identity will quickly encircle you again.
