From Satyajit on LinkedIn:
In my comment "I feel that it should not be very high may be around 2 KHz. " Is an observation and a guess of the frequency by direct perception. I am not using any internet resources to say this.
My basic question is the following.
I am trying to formulate certain methodologies to extend the scope of science that is the reason I am asking you this.
In Science we what we mean by measurement is something which is accessible to the sense organs.
Anything perceived within cannot be therefore measured.
Scientist measure electrical signals of the brain of a meditative yogi but it is still external measurement.
How does the yogi himself measure it ?
When you are trying to hear the NAAD sound you are actually doing an experiment therefore a measurement.
However science cannot comment on that as no sense organ is involved therefore "scientifically" it is not called an experiment.
However I am trying to extend the present scope of science by including even measurements done by oneself within.
(This is purely from the interest of a Physicist and not from the yogic perspective, Yoga may not care for it)
I know this is going to be a very big task, I am doing some research on it.

MiBeloved's Response:
I did do some physics and passed the University of London GCE O level exam around 1966.
Then I did precision electronic calibration and repairs in Avionics in the US Air Force during 1969-1971. Some of the equipment was for creating waves and energies which concern the laws of physics which are exploited for destructive purposes.
Fortunately for me providence messed up all my chances to complete those educations to the graduate level. Providence must have considered that I wasn’t worth the investment. And in retrospect, that was a blessing in disguise. I am a yogi and I am prejudiced towards intuition and psychic perception, despite the fact that it is proven to be a very unreliable means of perception. Admitting that, I can only say that for me to be in a conversation it has to be admitted that we have both physical senses and subtle or psychological senses, even though I will be the first to admit that the physical senses are more definite and are more reliable in so far as we may agree on anything.
Discussions which go off with intuitive evidence, subjective stuff, will get nowhere unless we agree to put aside the importance of physical perception. So for me to hold a discussion with the science people is not a good idea. I am into magic. They are into science which is a more reliable and dependable premise from the materialistic view point.
Yoga (including meditation) will lose out in a battle with Science if that battle has to be decided by the common man, because science is able to give the common man practical tools which yoga (meditation) cannot provide.
We have actually witnessed this in the last century which ended in the year 1999 where religion and mysticism have lost the battle for the hearts and minds of humanity. Science now claims the allegiance of the masses. There is no avoiding that. But still I am a yogi. I cannot be of much assistance in your quest.
I do admire it however and wish you the very best.
I can affirm however that naad sound is sometimes heard at the low frequency which you mentioned but it is also occurring in higher frequencies and sometimes in intricate multi-frequencies where it is a blend of notes, just as Krishna told Uddhava.
Anyway I cannot subscribe to any thesis or project which only acknowledges physical senses. I have no objection to it but I cannot get involved in that because for me that would be like going back to the Prehistoric Age.
Much of this has to do with intention. As you said correctly, when I am listening to naad I am in a way doing a measurement but my intention is the real issue. What is the intention?
In that case I check naad for its sound resonance, amplitude, vibrational radiation and its node locations. Yes I do check on that but my motive for that is to report back when I come out of the meditation to students and other fellow yogis. In that way we compare notes and check on each other and ourselves.
Naad is also supposed to be the vibration which is at the existential divide between the material and spiritual worlds. Therefore I have an interest to go there to that edge from this side, the material side, and perhaps to transit over into the divine place.
Naad is also serviceable in a very unique and special way which is to serve as an anchor point from which to do samyama three sequence meditation as per Patanjali high-end Ashtanga yoga.
Naad is also a nourishment on certain levels where the hankering one has for social association and love in this world is removed and replaced by feeding on the energy of naad.
As you can see from what I said above, this would not fit into any science journal. In fact I would be laughed out of the room.
