Woke up at 4:15 AM (Brahma muhurta).

Half-hour of Kapalabhati. Abdomen less prone to heating up. Reflexes steadying. Neck lock working in preventing head giddiness. Tendency to inhale through mouth had to be checked twice when mouth tends to open under pressure coming from opened epiglottis, reflexing into inhalation.

Followed with Anulom Vilom pranayam for one hour. This is more of a challenge of what I thought at first. Entropy enters the system after a while and will must be exerted to correct it. Hopefully reflexes here can also be acquired.

Followed by 2nd Kriya meditation. Light after Jyoti Mudra clear, bluish sun center receding, surrounded by thick black halo, surrounded by thinner golden/orange halo. Pranava heard in ears/head.

MiBeloved’s Response:

Neck lock is great. The other half of this is the mind lock. What is that? It is the pratyahar practice in its initial stage. It is described in chapter one of the Meditation Pictorial book. That is an essential part and it has to be practiced separately.

This mind lock was given to the West by Sri Paramhamsa Yoganandaji, as focusing within on the third eye. However the prerequisite of that was not given. People try focusing on the third eye but that is like flying an aircraft only after it has ascended and is cruising. What about learning how to get it off the ground and how to bring it to the cruising stage?

You could also try curling the tongue back during the rapid breathing, at least for about a year or so until the mouth no longer takes in air even if it is opened during bhastrika or kapala bhati. This can be done.

MiBeloved’s Response:

If there are any gaps in concentration, any slight misses in holding the energy, then this pranayama will be troublesome. To do this pranayama with mastership one has to hold the breath operation system in the body the way a powerful wrestler holds a little skinny man, or the way a python squeezes a creature and kills it.

When the python wraps around a creature, it is all but over for the victim. The only passage of escape which opens for the victim is death. All other methods of escape are sealed shut and it becomes obvious to the victim that fate finally closed in.

So the life air mechanism has to be in the yogi’s death grip in that way for this anulom-vilom practice to really bring final success.

One hour of this?

Amazing! Perhaps this python has yet to learn how to kill the victim in a quick and efficient way. Maybe the victim can still get a little space and can wiggle out of the coils of the python. Anyway, one hour of this is for heroes anyway.

For those who are not familiar with Sanskrit terminology, Pranava is the naad sound. Pranava is the Om sound which is not created by human vocal cords.

Thank you very much Michael!

I wanted to ask you for a while, I saw in the Pranayam videos that you sport a
यज्ञोपवीतम् thread...did you get उपनयनम् in this life to become a Brahmin?

Also, the Vaishnava Tilak you had...was that for the Gaudiya sect? I was expecting you to have a Madvha Tilak because of your yogic name.

The यज्ञोपवीतम् (yajnopavitam) thread was acquired through उपनयनम् (upanayanam) brahmin initiation in this life from the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya sampradaya which came through Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami.

The Vaishnava Tilak is that for the Gaudiya sect? The name of Madhvacarya is an assigned name in the sect given at Hari-nama mantra initiation (preliminary initiation).

It is actually Madhvacarya das which means one who is assigned as a servant of the Acharya, Madhva. His style of tilak is not used because the succession evolved through the Gaudiya influence of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which traces its authority through the same Madhva.
