This is from an email correspondence:

I had a couple hits of a joint with this guy today. I had not used that stuff for a while some months back but recently because of stress and also because a friend had access to the stuff, I began to smoke again.  Afterwards, I went into the shower and began picking up on communication going on with my girlfriend, I was explaining to her why it is not a good idea for us to have sex physically that it will only cause complications for us both that we may not be prepared to handle currently.  However, my attention was pulled completely into the communication where I was unaware of the physical body showering momentarily (not sure how much time?) but it was still performing the tasks without my attention to it.   The conversation went on for a while then all of a sudden I was aware of the physical body showering.

This seems like a complete transfer into the subtle body but the life force must have been maintaining control of the physical system, otherwise it would have fallen to the ground, and if it was in a filled bath tub may have drowned.

That explains why I cannot recall the length of time which during the experience seemed like an extremely long time, but don’t think it was that long in physical plane.

There was no measure in terms of physical time because the subtle body lost contact with the time reference in the mind which deals with that.

It assumed a no time reference in the subtle world which it was transferred to, where time is based only on what you are doing and what you are wanting, where one lingers in an experience because it is pleasurable or because the environment prevents one from gauging time.

A person who is imprisoned in solitary confinement without any access to sunlight cannot gage time because of being cut off from the reference of sunlight and darkness, something like that may happen in subtle experiences.

Time will still run on and you will realize that it did when you return to the physical level or to an astral level where time asserts itself blatantly

There is a story in the Puranas about Raivata a king who went looking for a husband for his Princess daughter, Revati. This king could not find a potential son-in-law on earth. He astral travelled into the heavens to find one. He had to wait there in the heavenly world for about half hour by the time of the heavens before he could see the deity of the place.

After his interview, he told the deity that he would go back to the earth but the deity explained to him that if he went back thousands of years would have passed. He would not recognize anyone or even the shape of the lands because it has all changed over the many years he was gone. But in the heavenly world it was just half hour.
