Query:

I had a question for you concerning a recent experience I had during my hatha practice.  I was in the Garudasana when I felt my testicle sort of squirm or lurch uncomfortably due to the pressure of my thighs squeezing together. Ever since then (this was about 3 weeks ago) I've had some off and on very minor discomfort in the scrotum.

MiBeloved's Response:

Garudasana should not be done by men just like that. Women are constructed in such a way that they can do it without precautions but not men. This is because the reproductive apparatus of women is within the trunk of the body, while for men it hangs outside the body. Nature constructed that because the male system is required to use heat to create a more concentrated sexual fluid. By hanging the scrotum outside the body, the heat from its filtration system is dissipated easily.

First lift the genitals up and then wrap the foot around the other foot. By genitals I mean the scrotum and the instrument. If you do not do this, then you are doing the posture improperly and will not get the benefit of the posture.

There are many postures in which a male should first lift the sex organs up and out of the way.

No damage should be done to the organs during the practice of asana postures. By the way please stop saying hatha yoga. Hatha yoga is not just postures, it is the complete kundalini yoga process given by Gorakshnath Mahayogin which includes postures, pranayama and special mystic kriyas. Postures is not yoga, it is only the 3rd part of yoga which is asana.

There is one more thing to note, which is that you should use the left hand only when handling the genitals. Cleaning the anus and handling the genitals should be done with the left hand only. Of course if your left hand is amputated, you will be excused from this rule.

Keep the left hand in reserve for profane actions and the right hand for sacred actions. That is the rule for brahmins in India. It is a good habit to develop.

Crushing, hurting the testes is a no no. You will need the testes to help you with raising kundalini, so if you damage them, then that will be your problem. As you already know the testes are needed in sex indulgence, so kundalini rising up the spine uses the same energy and most of it is manufactured in the testes. So if those are damaged, then it will affect your raising of kundalini. Just keep that in mind.

Query:

I have been trying for celibacy very seriously and have not lost semen in a month, which is a very good achievement for me personally (the longest I've gone is 6 weeks).  I believe it's due to the blessings of my spiritual teachers and my sincere desire.  I definitely feel my memory and mind is stronger and an amazing array of other positive effects.

MiBeloved's Response:

Sounds like you are on the path of very advanced yoga practice, in which celibacy is a requirement. However be forewarned that unless you find a way to use up the sexual hormones, they will eventually undermine your objective, as they will build up in the body and then you will be forced to indulge.

If you can, switch to dynamic celibacy and gave up the practice of static celibacy because that is full of loopholes. For one thing if the semen is being stored in your body, then ancestors will take shelter in it and they will eventually force the body to participate in sexual acts. Of course there is nothing wrong with that provided you are willing to accept the responsibility for those ancestors who will come as your babies.

Dynamic celibacy means that you are doing yoga exercises which cause the reserve of sexual energy to be distributed all over the body, and not to pool up in the genital area.

It is possible that mind and memory would be greater if one restrains from sexual indulgence, since then it may be that more of the sex hormone energy is reaching the brain and nourishing the related cells there, but the best part of that is what it is doing to the subtle body. So this is great! Let’s hope that your good luck will hold up!
