Frustrating Lucid Dreaming:
I'm having trouble getting lucid as I dream. Lately, I’ve been using affirmations to try to get lucid dreams (i.e. I will become lucid, etc.) All I've been managing is incredibly vivid dreams, but I don't think I'm dreaming, and when I do, I end up waking up.
has anyone felt the same, and what techniques have you tried to get over this?
MiBeloved’s Response:
Perhaps you can start where you are, rather than project on reality what you want to achieve outright.
Appreciate what you already achieved which is dream recall. If you have that as a prerequisite you can move ahead and make progress with it. Many people say they have no dreams which really means that they have dreams but have no recall. So if you are remembering dreams, that is a plus already.
Forget about lucid dreaming for a little while and increase your footing in dream recall by keeping a dream journal and noting in it whatever you recall each time you wake up. Over time, take care not to wake up suddenly or abruptly but gradually in slow motion, so that there is no jolt from not being physically conscious to being physically conscious. Note the gradual shift from the dream side or the sleep side to the conscious physical side.
That shifting and the mastership of it, is your high school diploma for entry into the Lucid Dreaming College. Good luck!
