Question by dwhite021:

Questions about Kundalini and Hatha Yoga ?

Recently I became spiritually conscious while on LSD. I now practice meditation and Hatha Yoga daily. A few days ago I read in a book about Chakras that many people have had particularly devastating experiences in their spiritual practice involving Kundalini. I didn’t have any idea what Kundalini was before I read this book, and now after reading these horror stories I’m wondering if I will be in any danger of a similar fate. I am 19 years old, and since I’m just starting on this path I assume I am far from having any issues but I’d like some advice or reassurance. I’d like to know that I can meditate and do yoga without fear of psychosis or manic depression… Thank you, I greatly appreciate it

MiBeloved’s Response:

That is real funny that you took LSD and now you are afraid of raising kundalini. So what do you think kundalini is? If you were able to handle the switches, rises and falls and increased subtle body perception on LSD, then I do not see why you should be afraid of kundalini.

On LSD, kundalini also rises but not in a linear or relatively controlled way, because its arousal by the influence of LSD is controlled by the strength and duration of the dosage. If you are able to raise kundalini through meditation and yoga, you would be in a better position to control it and you won’t have to deal with all those switches of consciousness, rises and falls which you experiences on LSD.

But let us look at kundalini in a more basic experience, which is sexual pleasure and sexual climax. Millions of people worldwide are trying to exploit kundalini through sex experience daily. None of them are afraid of raising kundalini in that way. So why be afraid of raising kundalini up the spine. Are people going mad because of having sexual climax every day either by self stimulation or by mutual interplay?

Of course some of them are. So the same risk is there in raising kundalini and it is no other big issue.

First of all what method will you use to raise kundalini? Will it be just meditating and sitting and waiting for it to happen by itself? Will it be using a vipassana breathing procedure? Will it an Indian yogic procedure of pranayama?

Will you go to a guru who gives shaktipad initiation? Will you join a spiritual dance session and dance until kundalini decides to move up your spine? Will you use chakra visualization?

None of those methods are as drastic as taking LSD. So if I were you I would not fear raising kundalini.
