The following diagrams are from kundalini practice. These are instances which might occur when trying to uproot kundalini from its base. At times kundalini deviates from its normal route in the subtle body but it will keep its route in the physical body. In the first diagram you will see how kundalini was configured in the gross body, coming up into the head.

Then in the second diagram you will see what kundalini did in the subtle body bending the head back and looping through the tongue and back to the base chakra avoiding its spread into the head.

In this loop through the tongue, kundalini actually draws energy from the tongue and carries that energy to the base chakra, where it uses that tongue energy to taste the energy at the base chakra. When this first happens there is an astral electric shock.

In the third diagram you will see the subtle body superimposed on the gross body showing both instances occurring at the same time.

The subtle body is capable of many postures and configurations or contortions which the gross body cannot perform.
