I was hoping someone may explain to me the difference in acceptance or just simply not giving a shit.

also-

if someone does something that hurts me deeply, I understand correctly that it's only going to affect me for as long as I allow it to,  should I be trying to view all injustices exactly the same, as they are? or does injustice A have more weight than B for whatever the reason.

I don't even know if these questions can be answered.. they have been on my mind now for the past couple of weeks and this is the only place I know to get any helpful answers.

Alfredo’s Reply:

Not so. Whatever injustice people do to you, will affect you no matter what you do or whether you allow it. Granted, it will affect you less if you don't react equally to it.

For example, Gandhi fought the British Raj using Ahimsa (non-violence). They went on strike and were beaten by the police, but did not react to it and took the beating peacefully. Still, they had to go to the hospital, tend the injuries, get stitches and so on.

Each injustice or act has its own weight.

Seriously go over what Alfredo described because that will free you from quick fixes and from false attempts at restoring or creating self esteem.

Why are you even considering not giving a shit? What is the cause of that?

That is not natural.

Every one of us have people we are concerned about, even if it is a little puppy dog or some miserable cat, so why are you in this not-give-a-shit mood.

Stop this! Express concern for persons whom you can help in one way or the other either materially, socially, emotionally or mentally. Give some worth to yourself and add to the worth of others.

If someone hurts you it is okay. In most cases these inflictions are done as a reflexive and not as a deliberate action. When it is deliberate, if we strip the person down psychologically we may find that the person is all messed up inside and misunderstood something you did and drew the wrong conclusion.

In cases where it is love, where you loved someone and that person left you or rejected you, it is usually a case of the grass appearing greener on the other side or a case of the person having naturally outgrown the need for your affection and association.

You should see that as a nature movement, like when for instance a boy sticks by his mother and is so attached to her during infancy that if he is separated he cries and cries and cries helplessly. But then when the boy grows suddenly after puberty he is no longer considering his mother in that way and he chases after girl friends.

What should his mother do, become dejected, and sad and then take an overdose to kill herself?

If someone loved someone and then either one finds someone else and madly falls in love even more than before, then we should see that as a nature action, where that person becomes exposed by nature to someone who is irresistible to that person at the time. This is like when if you go to a market to sell mangoes. So I come to your stall and purchase a rosy mango but then as I was walking along the corridors of the market I saw a bigger rosier mango, so I took the one you sold me back to you to get a refund.

Then you get angry about it and say that you thought I love your mango. Well I did but I found a sweeter one down the road. Due to immaturity you get angry with me and refuse a refund. So I get angry in return and strike you with a stick.

The whole incidence could have been avoided if both of us were mature and easy going.

Alfredo is correct because the idea that something will only affect you if you allow it, is good New Age stuff which sells books but besides that it is total nonsense. Let someone put a blow torch to your hair and explain to us how it will only affect you if you allow it.

Please abandon these childish notions, face life square on, find value in yourself, assist others and join in the conjoint effort which is called the human race. Let’s do something to increase the value of that.
