Illuminating Insight

MiBeloved 3 years ago

Today practice was without much of the bliss aspect of kundalini but the breath infusion session was thorough.

It seems that the moon energy was prominent and there was very little sun charged pranic energy in the atmosphere.

During the meditation I continued the gather of the energy which exuded from the core-self as it is situated in naad.

I sent a notation to Srila Yogeshwarananda expressing appreciation for his putting me on to this method. This is a near-the-end-of-the-effort procedure is a vital missing link in the spiritual progress of a yogi. This first major missing aspect is pranayama, where students want to sit down to meditate without first doing the breath infusion practice. The second missing link is that the students do not understand the value of taking shelter in naad sound. They feel that they are tough enough to challenge the mind space of thoughts.

This is my mind. I should rule here. I should not be dominated by anyone or anything.

With that attitude they do not take naad sound seriously. And that is the mistake.

Once naad is secured as a haven, as the promise of the yogi, as the nursing mother of the yogi, then the next stage is to enjoy being with naad. What was a drab, what was boring, what was lacking sensation and excitement, suddenly has all the value in the world. The yogi goes to naad the way an infant finds its mother’s breast and peacefully with full absorption sucks on it.

Then again, the yogi in the privacy of the mind, begins to treat naad as if it is a beloved person whom the yogi is absolutely mad about it. The yogi becomes infatuated with naad like a young lover who loses all rational sense in the pursuit of a beloved.

When this stage is established, the love affair with naad, then the yogi begins to notice that there is a converse side to the self which must be dealt with in one way of the other.

Initially when one notices this, one does not know what to do. One is baffled to discover that there is this other side to the self, this other untamed energy, which if it is not applied properly, it threatens to destroy spiritual advancement.

I am in love. Everything is going good. I have a beloved whom I can rely on. I am in the arms of my beloved, and still there is this little thing which I have not done. What is that?

Taking shelter is a huge relief. I was about in the creation, doing this and doing that, wanting this and wanted that. It is over. But there is another side to me which is active. It is there. In naad I become passive. My reliance found the naad port to dock into. But I still have this active side. What to do about that? I cannot get rid of that because that is essential to my self.

At this stage one gathers the energy which exudes from the core-self while one is in naad sound. This gathering procedure will not be successful initially. How will a porous container hold a liquid? Obviously it cannot.

Initially the attempt to gather this energy will result in abject failure. The yogi will notice that the attempt just does not do the trick.

Then by repeated effort, he will develop a method of doing this.

And then the result of having the radiant mystic perception will occur in the mind space of the head of the subtle body.

While bracing in naad, sitting there on the lap of your beloved, sucking on her breast, there being absorbed and greedy for the relationship with her, the yogi should gather the energy which exudes from the self, the self-acting energy which must have some occupation.

When the energy is gathered efficiently the yogi experiences supernatural insight. Patanjali explained this:

Yoga Sutras Chapter 3 Verse 5

तज्जयात्प्रज्ञालोकः

tajjayāt prajñāloka

taj = tad = tat – that; jayāt – from the mastery; prajñā – insight; āloka – illuminating.

From the mastery of that complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy, one develops the illuminating insight.
