How Yesterday sabotaged Today's Practice

This morning during breath infusion, everything was in order with the first sequence producing a glow-bliss energy from the very start, all over the trunk of the subtle body, in the neck and up to the cheeks in the face.

Srila Yogesh was present on the astral side for a short bit, checking to see if I would do sufficient practice, or cut the session short. When doing the breath infusion, there are certain energies which influence the student to cut the session short. One has to develop a resistance to these influences. Such influences are ongoing and will never stop. This means that unless one develops a resistance, one will cut short every session of exercises.

In relation to this also is the prep time for a session. The prep time for today’s session began yesterday, with what I did yesterday, whom I associated with, what was in my mind before resting in the evening, and the persons I met during my dream experiences in the astral world.

Today’s practice does not stand on its own two feet. It stands on what I did yesterday. Hence if yesterday was counterproductive to meditation practice, then today I will feel the effects of that as a not-so-successful session.

I located a nadi tube which is behind the sushumna nadi central channel. Pushing the infused energy through this tube caused it to flatten out and spread through the back of the trunk of the subtle body. This area is one which I could not reach before.

Here is a diagram of a cross section of the trunk of the body showing that nadi.

Jettins' Response:

I know what you mean. I don't like to go out anymore because it doesn't usually amuse me. I prefer to be left alone. Sometimes I have to for example when the family meets. In these cases I sit back and do not participate in conversations, but analyze what they say to understand what is driving them. I do not like what I see for the most, so I will prepare in advance with my kindle reader, mp3 interview or documentary relating to the subjects of my interest.  My idea is not to shield myself completely, but instead to understand the motives behinds the words and actions of others.  This way I can better choice what to like, instead of simply falling into the trap of liking whatever is around me simply because it's suppose to be amusing. I am no expert at this, but recognizing it is key.

MiBeloved's Response:

I am glad that somebody is doing this. I have long ditched the spaceship named earth.  I could care less what their motives are?

But somebody should be concerned and that is you.

There will always be this concerned person even though in the distant future it is not you.

I am also in the same boat. A matter of contention often for the family, a tendency to isolation, trips to India to get away alone in some Ashram, resistant to see or enjoy the Miami landscape in anyway, and yogic practices, contribute to many's idea that one is somebody out of the left field.

Dean's comment: Reading this statement brought thoughts of reincarnation, how events/lives of the past affect the future events/lives.

Dean, interesting comments thanks for writing it.

Alfredo, a tendency for isolation is also my situation.

Jettins!

I have a suspicion that you are gonna make a great Yogi! Seriously. Your contributions could be great. You are on the right track. Imagine that talent of yours in the Realms put to the service of Yoga!

You must have connected to my thoughts, I've been thinking about the Yogi path the last 15 min.

Dean's comment:  According to the Bhagavad Gita. You both will be great yogis.  You both have the instinct for isolation.

Verses from Chapter 13.5 thru 13.12 support this:

This was distinctly recited many times with the various Vedic hymns and with the Brahma Sutras, conclusively with sound logic, by the great yogi sages. (13.5)

The major categories of the elements, the personal initiative, the intellect, the unmanifested energy, the ten and one senses, the five attractive objects, (13.6)

...desire, hatred, pleasure, pain, the whole body, consciousness and conviction; this is described with brevity, as the living space with its changes. (13.7)

Lack of pride, freedom from deceit, non-violence, patience, straightforwardness, attendance to a teacher, purity, stability and self restraint, (13.8)

...indifference towards the attractive objects, absence of motivated initiative, the perception of the danger of birth, death, old age, disease, and suffering, (13.9)

...social and emotional detachment towards child, wife, a home and whatever is related to social life, being always even-minded towards what is desired and what is not wanted, (13.10)

...unswerving devotion to Me, with no other discipline but yoga practice, resorting to a secluded place, having a dislike for crowds of human beings, (13.11)

...constantly considering information about the Supreme Spirit, perceiving the value of the science of reality; this is declared as knowledge. Whatever is contrary to this, is ignorance.(13.12)

Hello Dean!

Thanks. I hope I can conform to those Gita verses and Vidya you wisely quoted. It is, indeed, a tall order!

Best wishes to you.

Thanks for sharing Dean. It appears I fit more than half of those descriptions right of the bat.
