Head Infusion / Vision Interest Retracted

During breath infusion this morning, Srila Yogeshwarananda gives me a head divide kriya. There are two diagrams for this. These are used when the student has cleaned out all old subtle energy from the trunk, thighs and legs. Then the neck is cleaned and cleared. Then the head is dealt with.
Doing the head before doing the lower parts of the subtle body is a waste of time, because the pollution in the lower parts will flow over into the head anyway. After a full session of breath infusion focusing down in the trunk, doing postures which cause release of stale subtle energy in the thighs and legs, the student should then focus on the neck to be sure that the neck is not compacted with dark astral energy.
Once this is achieved, the student should focus on the head alone. Initially one should use a 3 part divide and focus on each part beginning at the front of the head and moving backward. Then as that practice is mastered, one can do a six part divine. See the diagrams below.
In the meditation which follows this practice, the student should first be sure to anchor to naad sound in the back of the head. Once that anchor is established, the student should check to see if any vision interest is active. If there is, it should be shut down or cancelled. If the vision interest is not cancelled then one cannot honor the stipulation of Patanjali about having no mind-generated thoughts and images during meditation.
If the student finds that the vision interest is not shut down, and that it is unruly, and will not shut down, then the student should realize that there needs to be a practice for attaining mastery of this.
The student should take help from naad sound to escape from the dominance of the vision interest.
===================
What is the vision interest?
How to identify it?
To locate the vision interest the student with closed eyes in a dark room, should mentally act as if there is desire to see something in the external physical world. When this is done an energy will leave the core self and act to command the visual apparatus of the eyes to become open and see forms and shapes. The student should not allow the apparatus to operate fully. In other words there should be the desire to see physically but the student should not open the physical eyes. They should remain closed in the meditation.
This closure action will cause a mental pressure to back up in the mind, because of the eye not opening. This pressure is the vision interest energy. It has many parts to it. If the student studies this pressure repeatedly there will be clarity as to its component parts.
The student needs to find the most essential part of it which is emitted from the core self. Once this is located, then the student should pull that into the core-self and not allow it to be expressed through the mental and physical systems.
===================
When the vision interest is shut down, then the student should be aware of the naad sound, of the self (core-self), of the mind chamber, of the energy in the frontal part of the subtle head and of an interest energy which just lingers like a man who has no occupation and who wanders around a city.
This linger energy has to be curbed before supernatural vision will be established.
===================
How to curb it?
Srila Yogesh gave the middle call-in kriya, which is a method for pulling in this lingering energy into the center of the core self. This is an advanced pratyahar sensual energy withdrawal practice, where the core self pulls in instead of focusing out to the center of the eyebrows.
The core self should remain pinned down to naad sound, adhering to naad sound while doing this practice. There should be no release from naad otherwise this practice will fall apart because the core-self needs the support of naad to complete this practice
Here is a diagram:

I have tried to identify the vision interest in this way. During this practice I have felt some kind of tension which was emanated from the center of my head, and ended in my eyes. After that I made an attempt to pull it back mentally. A few minutes later I realised that my eyes turned upwards a little bit and the frequency of my thoughts decreased. I was also able to perceive a little spontaneous energy movement in my upper body. I am curious whether there is any difference between vision interest and optic power.

Vision Energy/Optic Power
The vision energy is different to the optic power but initially one has to act as if they are one and the same energy.
It is the same thing with the core-self and the sense of identity. These are two different realities, but still initially one has to act as if they are one and the same thing.
There are so many aspects of our life where this confusion occurs because of the fusion of one psychic object with another. For instance usually people who meditate think that as soon as they close their eyes, they are going into the Self.
But this cannot be. What is really happening is that they are going within the subtle body, within their psychological casing. But to most people, this subtle body is the self.
The vision energy is definitely not the optic power of the physical body and it is not the optic power of the subtle body either, and yet to us, when we are not in a super transcendental stage, it is the optic power, because then we cannot differentiate one from another.
In the Meditation Pictorial book, in chapter one there is a set of exercises which if one does the procedure time and again, one will develop the perception required to differentiate the vision energy from the optic power.
The vision energy is in the optic power, the way electricity is in a live wire. If you meditate long enough and turn your back on the material existence enough, you will be able to pull back (retract) the vision energy and then you can analyze it all by itself.
===================
Special Note:
The real problem is speed. The vision energy moves with such rapidity that the core-self cannot track it. Once the core-self develops speed perception, then it can see what these psychic adjuncts are doing.
Electricity seems to be instantaneous but it actually travels at a specific speed through a wire. This is realized if you use a very long wire, where it will take the electricity some seconds to be applied to an appliance after you throw the switch. As your meditation develops, you will develop this speed perception.

Thank you for answering, I think I understand it better now.
Let me write here my latest experience. I started to meditate as it is advised in the 1st chapter, in the Third Eye Focus technique. I focused on the vision interest/optic power and made three attempts to pull them back. After that, my mind became calm and I started to hear a dim sound from a location that you illustrated with light grey colour in a picture above. I don’t know whether it was the naad sound or not, but I listened to that and kept the vision interest/optic power retracted. After a few seconds something interesting happened: I completely lost the feeling of my physical body and I really felt that I am in the center of my head. During that time a moderately bright golden coloured cloud or fog appeared around me. These lasted only for a few seconds. After that the sound disappeared and the picture changed into darkness with a lot of points of faint light on that. The answer to this phenomenon might be on your previous reply, but I am not really sure about that. Did I go into the Self?

Did you do a breath infusion session before this meditation described above?
What you described seems to be the result of kundalini ascending to the brahmarandra, which is the spiritual light. Then one loses contact with both the physical and subtle bodies. This produces 2 main effects; namely, one becomes aware of an intense golden light in every direction as you described it, and, in addition, there appears inside the head myriad little, micro, balls of light in every direction, infinite, similar to what you also described.
When this occur while doing breath infusion, it has caused to me either a black out or a gold out, where I have lost the sense of self or perception as it has, temporarily, dissolved in the chittakash. In other words, if one opens the eyes, one sees everything but cannot name it.

MiBeloved’s Response:
Naad sound is usually in the back of the subtle head by the right or left ear. It depends on which is your stronger hearing sound. Most people use the right side of the body, meaning the right hand and the right ear mostly and the left side acts as an assistant to the right side. Some persons do the reverse. Whichever ear is the primary one is the one in which you will hear naad sound mostly.
It is not a physical sound. Because of using the left or right side primarily, the sound will be heard on that side. Naad sound may also be heard from the middle back of the subtle head or from any other location, but for each person there will be a most frequent location from which it is heard.
Once you become familiar with it and use it regularly, you will know how to find it at any time anywhere. It is always present but we are not always linked to it.
You were hearing the naad sound. So be confident about this.

MiBeloved’s Response:
This perception where there is losing track of the physical body is always present but we de-tune from it or are de-tuned from it by being locked on to the consciousness which spreads from this place into the mind and then into the material body.
In the same chapter one of the Meditation Pictorial book there are mind diagrams showing how to make use of this center-of-the-head experience. It is worth your while to go over these diagrams time and again and train yourself to do the exercises which are described.
This experience is the initial experience of the core-self. It is a mistaken experience but it is the initial experience nevertheless. It is very important to practice meditation at your stage with this experience by sitting silently and entering this stage again and again and staying here.
This feeling that the self is the oneness of consciousness in the head of the subtle body is actually an illusion but at your stage it is a necessary and very useful illusion. For instance when I was a baby I used to feel that the world functioned about me and that my mother was God. I thought my mother’s breasts were the blessings of God and that only I got access to that. I actually felt that my mother was existing for my convenience only and for no other reason.
Can you understand this? Can you see me in that infant condition feeling like this?
Now this is obviously a load of manure, but still it served me well at that time and it was what I had to deal with. It was nature’s egocentricity gift for me. It helped me to survive at that time. It was not true and still it was useful because it got me pass the point of infancy. It was where I began and even though it was bullshit, still it was serviceable. So why should we cut out this part when it was so useful to me at the time.
You have reached the baby stage in meditation. Do not feel bad about it, because there are many people whom I tutored in meditation who have not reached this stage as yet. In other words, at least I got an infant body and went through that fuzzy idea about my mother’s breast being the blessings of God, but they are others who are still on the astral plane. They never got a body. They still require one. Even though that was my big illusion, still it worked for me.
So like this be proud that you are in the baby stage. So long as you keep getting the milk you will grow up just like that without any other assistance. The milk alone will do the trick and bring you out of that stage.
In other words meditate with that center of the head idea of the self. Spend hours doing this. Why? Because I did it. That is why those diagrams are in the book. It is because I actually spent hours doing that and at the time, I felt that this was the self. Later I came to understand that it was not.
As the infant I thought that I owned my mother. I used to behave very badly when my mother was not available for my sucking her breast. I used to scream in my crib and kick if anyone else who tried to pick me up. I use to reject a feeding bottle, saying, “What is this? You idiot! I will have your head when I grow up! That is not my mother’s breast! Give me my mother’s breast at once, or I will tear off your head.”
So I used to behave like that. Can you imagine me being like that? But that was me.
So then gradually I came to understand that my mother was another person and that she was not my slave, that she had her own life to live and that she was doing me a favor serving as a Mom. So then I became repentant and changed my attitude but it took some years for me to do that.
So this meditation in the center of the head where one feels as if one is that is a preliminary stage but I can assure you that if you do it like it advises in the book, then you will advance.

MiBeloved’s Response:
This is the correct procedure that when you are stationed in the center of the subtle head like that, sometimes there will appear different types of lights. Always make note of it. Keep a journal where you record this. When this happens try not to panic, try not to get excited, try not to run after the light. Try to just see whatever it is and hold your ground in the center or hold your ground listening to naad.
If you report on these experiences, I can assist you to identify what they are and also which psychic organ is being used to perceive them. Always pay attention to location, as to if the light is up or down, left or right, far or near, in the psyche or outside of it.

MiBeloved’s Response:
At your stage of practice this is to be regarded as the self. It is a composite of the psyche in which the self exists but for now see this as the self and meditate on this as described in chapter one of the Meditation Pictorial book.
This is a composite state in which there are the self and other psychic objects but for now this is what you should regard as the self.

Thank you for the guidance. I am pleased to have reached a milestone even if this is just a baby stage. If I can see results then it will be easier for me to stay motivated.
I didn’t do breath infusion before this. I regularly do that before meditation in the morning, but this time I meditated in the evening.
I was unsure about the sound because it had a relatively low frequency and I thought that the naad sound should have higher. On the other hand, I realised that the volume of it sometimes changes and I also heard it from the middle back of the head, especially after pranayama sessions.
