Hello,
Sharing our first Out of body or Astral Projection experience can be very motivating for the people who are just getting started. In a sense, I think it removes some of the "esoteric" ideas of what Astral Projection really is that would otherwise prevent many beginners from trying it themselves.
Please share your first Astral Projection experience in this post so that the initiate realizes how common, natural and sometimes spontaneous it can really be!
Have a great day!

Jettins First Astral Projection experience:
When I was about 9 years old I had an Out of body experience where at the time felt so incredibly powerful to me that I started a Dream Journal. I heard a voice speak to me, It was a coherent voice that explained to me "What I was looking for", when I had dreams of flying. Waking up from that experience to only realize that I had been awake was unexplainable. I did not know about OBEs or had ever had dream of that magnitude. Unfortunately don't remember clearly what the voice said to me, not even by reading the experience of more than 20 years ago. One thing I knew for certain at the time is that the voice knew things.
Years passed and I forgot about the experience, until a family member found my notebook by accident in a wooden box in the country of my birth. Nobody in my family remembers knew how that note book got in that box, but that's another story.
That was my first OBE but only realized until many years later.
My second out of body experience and first identified as such while in the OBE was after listening to Albert Taylor on Coast to Coast. I remembered having very vivid dreams so it didn't seem incredible to me something like it could be possible. So I tried it myself, on my second out of body experience attempt I had a classic vibrational OBE, I sat up out of myself and sensed the hyper realism of it for the first time. It was beyond belief, incredible. I only made it last a few seconds because according to Albert at the time, it would help in retaining the memory. It was short but it changed me. About 1 year later I found my old dream journal I had forgotten about.

It is very special to have astral experiences during childhood. It is even more special to have those and to continue having them. Some kids have a few and are either frightened by it or are discouraged from having any more due to materialistic pressure from others who are mostly grossly aware.
I do not recall my first astral projection experience and for the simple reason that I was having these all through childhood. There wasn’t an abrupt starting point. The only abrupt starting point I had was one in which the astral body got bigger and bigger until I was scared that it would continue doing that forever. It was spooky because I was not at the time interested in getting so large.
I was in the astral projection as usual. I was with my face towards planet earth. The astral body was made of sunlight and it was in sunlight so I could not see it, because it was transparent. I could feel it and feel the limits of it. Those limits got larger and larger and I was moving on into space proportionally as it did so but still facing the earth. Then that stopped and the expansion reversed.
I became smaller and smaller until I was near my physical body which was lying on a bed and then I was the normal physical me again.
I am impressed with your keeping a journal from childhood. That is very special!

Hi Jettins,
I would have liked to say welcome and thank you for joining the forum earlier. You have already posted so much it seems like it has been a very long time. I find it elevating to have such opportunity to share in other's experiences and realizations while treading on the path. I look forward to understanding what you attribute your psychic sensitivity or recalled awareness from the dream state. How have you maintained your subtle faculty over the years? What purposes do you have for it? Again thank you for being a source of encouragement.

Hey Jettins,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for sharing all of your astral/psychic experiences. I have to commend you on recording your astral experiences from an early age in this body. I do not recall any of my early childhood astral experiences and taking a body in this life through a family that does not value these type of experiences, I was definitely not recording them in a journal so I applaud you for that. I began my dream journal a couple years ago at the age of 40 with the encouragement of Michael Beloved. Since then, I have consistently shared my experiences with this forum, however recently due to increased social commitments I have not been as active but view the site daily. So I appreciate your huge contribution.
Here is one of my first astral experiences that I recall since starting my dream journal from November of last year.
Before retiring to bed last night, I performed my pranayama practice then meditated for about 30 - 40 minutes. Moments after lying down, I witnessed my subtle body wiggle itself out of the physical form and take off into the night sky where I could see clouds and stars for miles. I thought maybe I could reach Michael in the astral world. When suddenly I observed another subtle form flying off in the distance with its arms outstretched like superman. I thought, I can do that too so I outstretched my arms which caused an increase in speed. Shortly after, I touched down in a large body of water, as I was descending under the water for a split second I thought to grasp for air but another split second later. I became amused by the thought as the subtle body floated back to the surface. As I outstretched my arms to propel myself out of the water. I felt something or someone grab my leg around my calf area. Startled momentarily, I found myself back in the physical form with a smile on my face.

Hello Surya Dasa,
I began learning about out of body experiences from a school of thought that believes anyone could have them if they tried it. I thought that everyone had the ability to do so. The ones who failed to have their firsts few simply had personal life issues that got in the way. A plan of action was easily laid out for those to follow and try. Then I realized it wasn’t so simple, it didn’t come natural for many, which compelled me to create a forum and help people have them. I wanted to know the personality traits that promoted LD/OBE/AP experiences.

Jettins Reply:
I haven’t, it appears that I am just lucky to have the personality traits and whatever else to help me do this. As of now, it appears that I find myself having encounters in the astral realms where I can help guide people. Maybe it’s part of the reason it comes natural for me to AP, because I am destined for a particular task. I say this casually as I am skeptical, yet opened minded about everything. Experiences haven’t always been the same; they appear to come to me in cycles. They have the overall theme of helping others with shorter changing cycles on how to go about doing this at the same time combined with stupid dreams in the mix.

Jettins Reply:
For the past 2 years almost every morning I record my dream experiences and my thoughts regarding them. As of now I have 94 hours of recordings and 584 log entries. About 35% of them are of the LD/AP type. To me, my recall is nothing more than the formation of habit. It also comes in cycles, from being able to remember 3-4 different dreams per night to having difficulty remembering just 1. In terms of psychic sensitivity I feel that I have as much as X person in the street. The difference might be that I try to follow the little synchronicities that happen all the time as a gauge to see if I am doing what I am suppose to be doing and best live my life.
Thanks for the welcome.

Hello Dean,
You wrote: "When suddenly I observed another subtle form flying off in the distance with its arms outstretched like superman"
Jettins' Query:
Do you remember how it visually looked? For example if it looked semi-transparent or solid, or any oddity? You gave me a good idea on what to write about.
Have a great day!

Dean's response: If my memory is accurate, it was a solid grayish color.
