Today I saw something clearly in my morning practice. This is good for me since normally feeling dominates while subtle perception lags behind.
After 15 minutes of postures and then doing about 5 minutes of bhastrika in a simple seated posture, I did a round of breathing and then retained the breath on the inhale.
I must have applied the locks in perfect sync with the inhalation, because instantaneous with the final inhalation, I saw in front of me (core self me) a wide flow of energy rushing upwards. Using the physical body as a reference to describe it, I will say that the flow was 6-7 inches wide, centered. I did not see the origin but it began at least as low as the base chakra level (pelvic floor) and flowed upwards with great vacuum force. It seemed beginningless and endless. In color, it was murky dullish and darkish with golden energy hiding in the darker tones (purplish or brownish).
· In this experience, the timing, as mentioned above, was in sync.
· Subtle perception was not dominated by feeling.
· I was also distinctly aware of myself as an isolated observer. The core self stood back, watching the wide stream of energy flowing upwards in the frontal subtle body and beyond.
I watched this for about 5 seconds.
I was left with a sense of satisfaction, that the pranas were flowing upwards, effortlessly.

I was just browsing through the Kundalini Yoga posts, and stumbled upon this one, which I missed when it was put up 9 days ago.
The tiny hole in the base chakra must have been sealed, at least this morning, for me to have had the experience I noted above.
It is possible that I did not accurately perceive the location of the energy flow.
I did not think the energy was moving up through the sushumna channel but I could have been mistaken.
Or maybe the energy did actually rise up a frontal channel.
I have neither the vision nor the experience to interpret it accurately.
But a beginner has to start somewhere and keep building upon experiences which come of their own accord.

Sushumna spinal passage travel of kundalini is specific and is not easy to confuse it with other types of rises of kundalini or of the infused energy itself without kundalini. When kundalini goes up the spine it is unmistakable. Actually it is the only type of kundalini rise which is documented in India.
You will hardly hear of anything besides that coming out of India as classic kundalini. Some teachers like Swami Muktananda have tried to change this but they were unsuccessful and it is because most people never get beyond that stage of just the Sushumna and the chakra nadi system which concerns that.
Srila Yogeshwarananda did say that in the subtle body there is no kundalini. Well obviously he was speaking for himself, that his subtle body was a brahma yogi siddha body which does not have the rudimentary kundalini psychic system which almost everyone else has to deal with.
Infused energy can rise from any part of the psyche with or without the help of kundalini. Each subtle, and even, gross cell structure has a kundalini in it, a micro kundalini. These when infused with sufficient energy, may form their own kundalini like force and move through the psyche in an upward, downward or even explosive type of spread.
The student needs to pay attention inside to see what is happening and to sense even the most subtle accumulations of the infused energy.
There can be an upward movement from the central part of the subtle trunk behind the groin area. The Taoist practice specializes in this kind of kundalini. This can rise up through the psyche without ever touching the kundalini in the spine.
There can be an upward movement up the front of the body under the skin, moving from the groin area up through the front of the torso into the head.
In some cases it might go up and not go so far as the head.
The only way to know is to pay attention internally when doing the breath infusion practice.

Thank you for this explanation.
There are no substitutes for attention and perception while practicing.
