A senior Vatican source said the report was reliable. "The report seems credible. It accurately explains the spiritual process that brought Benedict to resign," he said

MiBeloved's Response:

It is more like it accurately explains the inexorable process of material nature which ages the very body it created and which deprives one of the very opportunity it provided in the first place.

What has God to do with it?

Can God change the ways of material nature?

Where is the evidence that God has consistently done that?

A flash miracle by God here or there does not mean anything in the overall scheme of how material nature operates.

The resigned pope may be given credit not about hearing God's instruction to resign but being realistic in not staying on as his predecessor did till the fagged end of life when he would barely raise his hand, or blink his eyelash, even, because material nature had closed in on him bit by bit and removed every trace of the power which it afforded him previously.

Benedict has common sense in this regard, not God visitation. Who needs God to come and tell them to resign when, with a bullhorn, material nature speaks loud and clear in the language of bodily deterioration?
