Dream: Universe at Warp Speed

I dreamed last night that I was in a house like the one I once lived in Guyana. And then I was a prisoner in that house and was seeking a way to escape. When I finally made it outside the house, I ran through a field of corn and at the end of the corn field, I exited and looked up into the sky.

The sky's background was dark and I could see all the brightly lit star constellations and galaxies. They were very clear and were moving very fast...at a rate where galaxies were spinning and rotating every couple seconds. It would be as if you took a video of the dark sky for several weeks and fast-forwarded it at very high speeds.

Was I in a faster time dimension in that dream or was I recalling previous experiences in my life and replaying them at very fast speeds? It's hard to tell but the vivid and fast-moving sky was very real.

The subtle body usually returns repeatedly to scenes of a past life and to the place or country of the past life. If in one life time you were travelling and living in various places, taking residency in these places, then the subtle body will return during it’s astral projections to those places whenever it has an idea which concerns the said place.

There are two factors at play, one is simply imagination. The other is imagination which plays into being reality. Just as in the physical dimension, a great basketball player may do something fantastic physically like throw a ball into a loop from a distance and from a side or back maneuver, so the astral body can do fantastic things in fact.

But the same player who is so skilled can also imagine himself performing in that way. In the astral world imagination is present just as it is present here and just as in this world there is a correlation between what we imagine and what we do in fact, the same is true in the astral world but in the astral there is a greater percentage of success in making imagination to be something real. This is because the astral environment is more responsive to our imagination than the physical stuffs.

But since that it is so it also means that we have to be very sensitive to know what astral experience is and what imagination is and also what a mixture of the two is.

Let us return to the basket ball player. While he was making that fantastic shot, his physical body was acting a reflect of his spontaneous imagination and so even though it was just that only imagination in the mind, because the physical body could follow that, we applauded the guy and we accepted that as a real score. The guy becomes the most valuable player in the country because he is able to cause his material body to act out his fantastic imaginations with the ball.

So after the game we go away with amazement praising the guy. We are his fans. This is for real. No bull!

But in the mind of that same player, he may be struggling to do better because he has this burning ambition to be much better than that. He imagined not just putting the ball in the hoop but putting it in the hoop 100 times during a game. And yet even though he was that good he could not manifest his imagination to that extent.

But he is honest with himself and he knows what his physical body can respond to and what it simply cannot manifest. In the same way if we are dedicated to spiritual perception and if we give ourselves over to it more and more, we will develop more clarity and know what is imagination in the astral world and what is reality in it.

Basically this dream was both symbolic and actual. Actual means something that is literal and is not symbolic of anything.

The astral body may sometimes try to go back to its past life and when it is unable to do that, it may be drawn into a dimensional warp such that the reality of what was done in the past life is experienced as a compression of events in the astral world.

In this case, due to desires in the mind, simmering background desires, the astral body tried to go back to your life in Guyana in a previous life but it was unable to. It did however succeeded in going back to a short time you spent in Guyana in this life.

The subconscious store of information about the past life is still sealed. The astral body is frustrated because it cannot break the seal. The reason it cannot break the seal is that it is using a program which cannot read the subconscious file. This is like in a computer when there is a file in the registry and you right click on it, and click open. A notice comes up saying that the system cannot open the file.

It is your computer, it is your mind and still you cannot open the file.

One big mistake people make when trying to understand psychic existence is to use their conscious mind as it is. When they find that there is no progress with that they either become frustrated or say that psychic stuff is imagination.

The truth is that whatever goes into the subconscious cannot be read using the usual operating system and programs of interpretation which work in the mind for this life.

To go into the subconscious you have to leave aside the standard programs in the mind which you normally use. Many students make this mistake of demanding that the proofs of psychic stuff be readily available to inspection by the same mental process which serves us in physical existence. They demand saying,

“Well where is the proof? Show me the proof in the regular way, just as if it was something physical which I could see and feel?”

Here is a hint. Do not carry your normal intellectual process and sense detection process if you want to go into the subconscious. Leave yourself open-minded to developing another totally different program. Don’t shut down your intuition and tell yourself you have to use the normal system of checks and balances which work in the physical world.

If you want to go back into previous lives, then think first of the parents you had in those previous lives. It began with parents. And with parents what are you and who are you at birth? What is your identity? How is your intellect developed and manifested at birth? If you can reach a stage of being like that, then you can penetrate and reach past lives.

A prisoner in Guyana in your past life and going back to check what it was like to be there in a material body and then to realize that the whole life time there was a prison sentence really, despite the achievements.

And then to escape in this life to a developed country, which is itself just another prison block in the same prison, but at least it, is a better more-accommodating block. Now you are eating corn instead of rice. You are driving a car instead of a donkey cart. You are making 1000 dollars a week instead of 100 British pennies a month. But looking up and seeing the sky and thinking, there has got to be something better than this. And wanting to reach that something.

Otherwise after this life in this fancy prison compound, where will be the next life and in which compound will it be, in Spain, in Germany, in Rwanda, in a burnt out earth, after American and Iran and the rest shoot it out with nukes, in the ocean as a large predator like a killer whale as the lord of the deep at the top of that food chain, swimming about as a big gun again?

It wasn’t something you imagined but it was set up by Nature to suit your situation. In the astral world, nature can do that, just as in the world sometimes we find that certain circumstances just seem to fit into our needs and aspirations just like that. But nature was also looking at you with millions of eyes, and it was thinking collectively, “What will this little idiot do next?”

The astral body can change in vibration and perception such that the whole galaxy is seen by it directly. But this type of transit into a higher phase of the astral body does not stay for long. One is rapidly switched back to the usual normal sensual range.

Some yogis do achieve an astral form which perceives like that on a full time basis. On occasion a student yogi might have an astral experience where the subtle body becomes like just air or atmosphere and where it moves at tremendous speeds way out in outer space. These experiences usually end abruptly with waking up on this side in the physical form.

The astral body’s vibration changed so that it became capable to perceiving the real movement of the stars. When we use the physical body and look out at night into the sky, we may see stars which appear to be still to our physical perception but actually we know that those stars are moving at tremendous speed and it is possible for the astral body to comprehend those astronomical movements directly.

There are application samadhis to achieve these perceptions. Here are some verses from Patanjali Yoga Sutras*.

From the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy in relation to the sun god or the sun planet, knowledge of the solar system is gained.

By complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy, in reference to the moon or moon-god, the yogi gets knowledge about the system of stars.

By the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy in relation to the Pole Star, a yogi can know of the course of planets and stars. (Yoga Sutras 3.27-29)

By the complete restraint of the mento-emotional energy, while linking the mind to the relationship between the body and the sky and linking the attention to being as light as cotton fluff, a yogi acquires the ability to pass through the atmosphere. (Yoga Sutras 3.43)
