Downward distribution of kundalini

This concerns the practice of monitoring and improving the efficiency of the downward distribution of kundalini below the base chakra. The normal concern is to raise kundalini from the base upwards through the spine into the head of the subtle body.

This upward activity is very good for a start in higher yoga, but one has to go further. In fact if one becomes proficient in the upward rise of kundalini from the base to the head of the subtle body, one will over time, come to discover or be inspired to cause kundalini to surge in other parts of the trunks of the body.

There are left and right side kundalinis. Then there is front kundalini. These are different directions in which kundalini moves as it rises. The most popular and well known process is back kundalini. Back kundalini control is a feat in itself but it is the start of the process of getting the life force under control and redirected in the spiritual interest of the core-self which lives in the psyche of the subtle body.

The subtle body is more than the subtle spine and subtle head. Hence eventually a student realizes that clarity in the spine and head is not enough. One has to get clarity in the rest of the subtle body, even down to the feet. The natural system is to neglect the feet and the hard to reach areas of the subtle body like arm pits, the hands, arm, thighs and legs. However if one strives to reach these areas, over time, trying again and again, one will be able to penetrate the dense astral energy which is in these areas. One will be able to displace that energy with new clean astral force. This makes for a yoga siddha body which is the first step in assuring that one will not have to take an haphazard transmigration after the death of the present physical form.

If you only care about now and have no consideration about where you will be tomorrow or if you just trust that providence will figure things in your interest, then there is no need to work this hard in yoga practice for a better future. But if you are a bit uncertain about what providence may do, then you should dig up and accelerate your practice. Whatever time you give to practice will pay off in time. Be confident about that.

Some guy was telling me that it is only important to be concerned with the present. But I objected because the present is in order. The body I am using is presently healthy. Why should I stop to be concerned about something that is in order, especially since for sure, this body will reach a state of disorder in the future and then I will be evicted from this body, regardless of whether I want to move on or not? I have preferences and I am not going to say that I am indifferent to circumstances. I am not. I have preferences. Hence if there is a way that I can accomplish my preference in the hereafter, I am going to work to achieve it.

I simply do not trust that providence will just work things out in my favor. I am not the absolute. I am not the whole existence. Therefore there is no sanity that I see when a person thinks that providence has to figure things in his or her favor. My view is that one has to study the movement of providence and then work to suit, work to bring about a situation in which one gets what one prefers but within the span of the providence not just some imaginary or hopeful idea which providence will ignore or mothball.

These diagrams below might be the first time that diagrams were drawn like this in the recent history of humanity. Yogis, very advanced yogis who mastered kundalini yoga, are aware of this scheme of the kundalini energy but I feel that none of these yogis ever jotted down these diagrams. If however anyone finds these diagrams in a book or in an ancient writing, please let me know, since I would like to read the notation which were left with these notes.

Energy distribution above the base chakra

In this first diagram, the line at the bottom represents the base chakra and its spread of control at the bottom of the trunk of the subtle body. From there energy rises up into the body and spreads around, either efficiently or inefficiently according to the pollution and heavy astral energy in the subtle form.

Energy distribution below the base chakra

In this second diagram, the line at the top represents the same bask chakra and its spread of control at the bottom of the trunk of the subtle body. But now from there the energy spreads downwards and also penetrates the thighs, then the knees, then the legs, then the feet.

This second diagram is the one which is of interest in this practice. A yoga siddha body is one in which all parts of the form have light (as in sun-light) astral energy and no dense astral force which is heavy. Making the subtle spine (sushumna nadi), and the subtle head (the mind), become infused with fresh energy from the breath infusion practice does not necessarily cause improvement in the hard to reach places of the subtle form.

In this discourse the word mind is the equivalent of the subtle head. The subtle spine is what is called sushumna nadi in the hatha yoga books from India. The individual entity is not that subtle body but it resides in that body, just the way a human being resides in a building. Specifically, the self resides in the head of the subtle body. The kundalini force has the base of the subtle spine as its default residence. The effort in hatha yoga as taught by Yogiraj Gorakshnatha was to unseat the kundalini from its default residence.
