Pranam to all my seniors,
I wanted to get help with a few questions. I have heard and read about destiny. About how it’s the reward or results of our own actions in previous life. So, in this life how much can I achieve or how much can I go farther, purely with my own hard work or actions. If I work hard on meditation and truly devote myself can I develop higher stages in meditation regardless of my "fate" or "destiny"?
Also, what about "stars" affecting my life and my ability to get closer to the Guru and the Lord. How do I as a small powerless creature get to the Supreme Divine Being with my efforts?

A small powerless creature can get to the Supreme Divine Being, to Krishna, by taking help from Krishna. The assistance from Krishna is mostly here already in his instructions in Bhagavad Gita and also in the instruction in the Uddhava Gita.
The Uddhava Gita is the most complete discourse on self realization and the methods of individual accomplishments. Are you willing to study those two books and to take the information seriously so that you adapt your lifestyle to make it easy for you to be receptive to Krishna’s influence?
Personally I do not see how any limited person is going to get out of this material existence without taking help from a person who is outside the jurisdiction of this place. I feel the persons have to take help from superior resistant persons to get out. Otherwise I do not see how it will be possible. If one denies the reality of personality and just sees that as an aberration or illusion, I do not see how one can get out.
As far as the Supreme Being is concerned, his assistance is available 24 hours per day. Thus it is more a matter of putting yourself into an existential way in which you can utilize that assistance.

About Destiny
You must have seen a meat grinder. What happens there? Time is like a meat grinder and it sucks everything through its tines, cutting plates. Once a piece of meat is caught in the plates it cannot escape. It is then drawn through by the powerful pulling action and it is cut according to the shape of the holes in the plates. So our lives are like that in that we are being processed through the present historic circumstances. If you are lucky and you are a tiny bug, you might escape being cut to pieces. You might just glide right through the cutting plates without being harmed.
But the matter does not end there because this meat grinder is perpetual. It is constantly drawing into itself even the pieces of meat which has just passed through its cutting plate. These feed back around and pass again through the plates repeatedly.
You are already very lucky because you are in the human form of life. You can use literature which is a huge advantage. A bug, a tiger or lion cannot read literature. It cannot learn about the past and cannot speculate on the future based on the past. Its only method of learning is through instinct but you have knowledge which is accessory to instinct and which boost instinct considerably. That itself is a great asset, but you have to put that to use by carefully studying the life of those who mastered the system. Learn their methods and put that in practice.
In science we see that they forge ahead because of making use of literature. Similarly in the field of spirituality we too should make use of literature by studying about those persons in the past who accelerated their spiritual development and left hints on how we may proceed.
Planetary bodies give positive and negative influences. They are going to do what they are going to do and you won’t be stopping their influence because you are just not powerful enough to do anything about that. Thus commit yourself to making whatever progress you can. Let the stars do what they can do and just be accepting of that but in the meantime forge ahead if you have the time and the right methods to make spiritual advancement.
Before you go crying to God, take a good look at yourself and ask yourself of your worth to yourself.
Do you have any value for your person? Are you worth anything to yourself? Do you want to abolish yourself? Do you feel that you are worth any effort?
If you have some value for yourself, then that motivation will inspire you to make spiritual progress.Rich 3 years ago
In regard to what can you do as far as YOUR stars are concerned?
You would have to most likely be a practicing Astrologer to know this, and then explaining it so that it makes sense to someone not in Astrology is a whole different endeavor.
YOUR BIRTH CHART or energy blueprint has many things. According to a lot of Masters, you cannot become whole unless you explore your shadow side. If one only looks at what is good about oneself how do you take your weaknesses and turn them into strength's? Making lemonade out of lemons is a major turning point in enlightenment.Jimi Hendrix died of a drug overdose on September 18, 1970, as the transiting Black Moon (shadow side) was conjunct his natal Chiron (worst wound) /North Node (destiny) – the point in his chart that was first activated by transiting Pluto when his mother died.
Thus said if he had had the opportunity and interest in HONORING his Shadow Side by embracing it and looking into it with an Astrologer many pieces of his puzzle would have been offered to him. CHOICE and FREE WILL is not interfered with by "The Supreme Being"....but it is always there if you look for it.
Nowadays we have so many outer distractions here on the planet we do not take advantage of the Mirror that is placed above us.

Much has been written about Johnny Cash and his wife, June Carter Cash, being soul mates. The astrology certainly shows that their union was destined and that it was intended to bring about healing for Johnny. On the day that they married, the transiting Black Moon (the Shadow side), which is intimately linked with marriage, was approaching conjunction with Johnny‟s natal Chiron (wounds in need of healing) and the transiting North Node (destiny) had just passed conjunction with his natal Black Moon.

The conjunction of the transiting Black Moon to the natal Sun is very profound. The conjunction drains all of our energy. Essentially, during the conjunction, the Black Moon causes degeneration and clears out the psychological debris that keeps us blocked from self-actualization. It happens approximately every 8 years and 10 months and it sets the stage for dramatic changes in life. When the Black Moon approaches within three degrees from our Sun position at birth, we become extremely tired. It is crucial to surrender to this and sleep whenever possible. Trying to push through when you could be resting does not help this process. We need to enter into the unconscious sleep state as often as we can during the month that the Black Moon is on approach to our Sun so the Black Moon can clear away what she needs to go. Remember, the Black Moon works on the unseen, unconscious levels. We can facilitate the cycle of death of the old and rebirth of the new that we are undergoing by resting and sleeping as often as we can.
Some days are harder than others during this transit. We feel we are carrying a heavy burden and will be taken under at any time. It is an extremely emotional time, especially if there are other aspects at play in the chart to other planets at this time.
The conjunction of the Black Moon forces us to look at our past head-on. We feel like we are walking backwards, keeping the army of the past at bay. But the best thing to do is just turn around, face forward, and let the past follow behind. The past needs to stay in the past. Examining the past is part of the process of this transit because the last nine years (since the last transit of the Black Moon to the Sun) are degenerating. A rebirth will take place on the ground of the degenerated past.
There is no better metaphor for this transit than the phoenix that descends in a fiery blaze and is then reborn. When we undergo this transit, we are like the phoenix. But we can plunge to the depths scratching, clawing, and flailing in an effort to stem our fall, or we can dive headfirst in a graceful, contained, and purposeful descent. It is our choice. But if we know what is happening to us and know that it all leads to a reward, why shouldn't we at least try to surrender to the process? It is almost impossible to embrace this process (because the intensity and power of the descent is virtually too hot to touch), but we can facilitate it. Think about it: the Black Moon is burning away our old self to birth a better version and it has to get very, very hot to do that.
As the Black Moon makes the exact conjunction with the Sun and begins to move off it, we immediately start to feel better. A great relief enters. It takes a little while for our bodies to adjust, but we emerge back into the world around us as a more refined version of ourselves. Our outlook has changed and we begin our new life with a fresh perspective.

The next full moon is not just another full moon, and the next week is not just another week, as we have an extra potent lunar eclipse, an extremely rare Venus transit across the Sun, and Neptune turning retrograde, all occurring within less than 48 hours. Lunar eclipses are super charged full moons. All full moons bring light to the dark, illuminating what’s been in the unconscious, and what we need to see to move forward in our lives. Nineteen years ago, on June 4, 1993, there was a lunar eclipse at 13°53’ Sagittarius–Gemini, very close to the degree of this eclipse. What was important to you back then? What is calling you now? Neptune enables us to feel our interconnectedness, as well as our infinite potential. Neptune turns up the volume on our right brain, amplifying our intuition and our capacity to envision a new world. As with all archetypes, the more consciously we engage Neptune, the less likely we are to experience its energy in a disruptive or detrimental manner. Venus plays a prominent role in this eclipse, as it conjuncts the Sun in Gemini, closely squares Mars in Virgo, and most importantly, makes a rare Transit across the Sun on June 5–6. Venus Transits occur in pairs; the first was on June 8, 2004 (18º Gemini). The previous pair of Venus Transits occurred in 1874 and 1882; the next will be in 2117 and 2125. Venus was closely observed by the Mayans and known in the ancient world as the Great Goddesses Inanna, Ishtar, Hathor, and Aphrodite; she is the Western equivalent of the Hindu Shakti, the creative power of the feminine. As the esoteric or spiritual ruler of Gemini, Venus represents the divine marriage, the unification of opposites that leads to enlightened awareness. Mercury, the traditional ruler of Gemini, is also an alchemical figure; Hermes (its earlier, Greek version) is associated with kundalini, the primal force at the base of the spine that, when activated, produces unity consciousness. Venus’s transit across the Sun, highlighted by this eclipse, symbolizes a collective readiness for the re-emergence of the divine feminine; it supports women reclaiming their power and men reclaiming their feminine side. Venus corresponds to the heart chakra, the subtle energy center which enables us to feel a sense of connection and belonging.
