Comparison: Prana Kundalini / Chit Kundalini

I was on the astral side with Swami Muktananda. He explained the difference between prana kundalini and cit (chit) kundalini. Basically the word prana means subtle energy, while the word chit means consciousness or the functional spread of awareness.
Prana kundalini, he said, concerns the chakras, the sushumna nadi passage and the head of the subtle body. Kundalini itself has arrayed itself in the form of the sushumna central spinal passage and the chakra which are energy vortexes for converting subtle energy for specific purposes of expression and consumption in various environments.
A yogi, by making a thorough study of how prana or subtle energy is acquired, processed, used and then discarded, can understand the mission of kundalini in his individual psyche. It is a personal achievement. A student can get help from a guru but the student needs to spend the time and effort to manipulate kundalini and study its nature and operations.
There is a question which each student should answer for himself, which is:
What is the purpose of kundalini?
Why does it have independence where it can act without consulting the self?
How long will I continue to need kundalini?
The masterful way to deal with kundalini is to deal with its food source which is prana or subtle energy. This is present in a very obvious way in the form of physical breath in the physical body. Hence the system of controlling kundalini begins with controlling its access to breath. This process is called pranayama which is the procurement, restraint and control of pranic energy.
The objective is to get the kundalini to turn its head so that one can grab it. In dealing with a snake one has to grab the creature from behind its head. Once you hold it there, it becomes harmless for the time being. If however you grab it from the front, it may inflict a wound. To grab kundalini one should study how it processes air, then one will learn how to deal with it. That is kundalini yoga practice.
==============================
Chit kundalini is totally different to prana kundalini.
In chit kundalini practice the kundalini force which was mastered in prana kundalini practice is not present. In other words one does not find a sushumna nadi and chakras. The survival setup of kundalini in the form of chakras for energy distribution is no longer present.
Chit kundalini does not recognize a special brain, a special set of nerve plexuses on the spine and so on. These are just not present. Instead the entire subtle body become like one psyche with every part of it, having brahma randra capability. It is like the entire subtle body is made of special energy. On the subtle side the entire subtle body is energized equally in every part where the entire system is highly energized.
In the prana kundalini system the highest chakra is the brahmarandra crown chakra. When that is aroused by kundalini one gets the highest experiences but in a chit kundalini system, the entire body every part of it is like a brahma randra crown chakra, every part is capable of yielding the highest experiences.
==============================
There is another way to look at this. The prana kundalini system is more or less concerned with the spine and the head of the subtle body, while the chit kundalini system is concerned with every part of the subtle body evenly. The head has no special importance here and there is no spinal chakra system to deal with. The whole subtle body then is gutted out and it is refilled with subtle energy homogenously.

Why does it have independence where it can act with consulting the self?
The word would be without in lieu of with.
My question: is this distinction between the two kundalinis explained or mentioned anywhere else including scriptures?
MiBeloved 5 years ago
That is correct that it should be without. I edited this. Thanks!
Your question:
Is this distinction between the two kundalinis explained or mentioned anywhere else including scriptures?
MiBeloved's Response:
It will be very difficult to find this distinction in the books because usually the only kundalini that is discussed is the prana kundalini. Chit and para kundalinis are very advanced practices which are not detailed or even mentioned except indirectly in the yoga books and in the Puranas.
Much of what I wrote and will write is being written for the first time in the particular descriptive way which I am publishing. This breaks the tradition where these matters were discussed between a yoga guru and one advanced student only. It was not divulged in a published form or discussed openly.

Thank you very much for your benevolence!
What are some reasons for breaking this secretive tradition particularly regarding advanced practices?

When people pray to God, some do so for the reason of bread and water. Some others do so for the reason of alleviating sorrows. Some do so for transcendental information.
God may or may not respond to someone's prayer but on occasion God does. In this case, this information is being given because someone (many someones) asked for it, and some others will be looking for it in the future and there may be no one around to deliver it to them, but it will be here in this written form.
The information might not be useful to you but it will be to others, either today or after the writer is departed.
Someone somewhere may be advanced enough to use it, either today or tomorrow.
