Inquiry:

My friend hung herself a few nights ago, and she is in a coma, the doctors say there isn't anything they can do for her except make her comfortable. I want to go down and see her, but is she there? Where does the spirit go when you’re in a coma? Does it stay with the body until it dies, or does it move on? Please, I need to know.

Spirit must stay with the body until the body dies. It has no choice in the matter. But in a coma the spirit is usually unaware. In rare cases, the spirit becomes aware and experiences life the way a person who is in a cataleptic trance experiences restriction. Cataleptic trance is also known as sleep paralysis.

Coma means that the life force in the body cannot operate the body as usual because of some damage to the nervous system through which the life force sends energy and gives mobility commands.

So long as the life force remains with the body, the spirit has to remain in the body as well, because they are inexplicably fused together. The only way a person in a coma can become free from the unconscious state is either by repair of the damage to the body or by the death of the body.

If the body dies, then the spirit is instantly released along with the life force which then makes its final exit from the body. I say final because the life force conducts an astral projection from the physical body every time the physical body sleeps, except that it returns the astral form to the physical form and the physical form wakes up. At death of the physical form, the life force loses the ability to fuse the astral form into the physical system and so only the life force and the astral form remains operative.

To contact this person, you do not need to be in proximity with her physical body. What you need to do is to be in proximity with the astral body which is used in dreams. And you can reach that body from any place. The easiest way is to just speak to the person mentally and then wait for a thought flash in your mind. That thought flash will be a mental reply from the person.

However that is only viable if the person is not in an astral coma. In which case, you will have to wait until that astral coma breaks to communicate psychically. It will break either by the death of the physical body or by the nervous system repair process which will result in the person becoming awake again on this side.
