Bliss energy / Pranayama Yoga

When pranayama practice begins in earnest, there arises in the psyche a bliss force. This involves kundalini shakti but it also does not involved that. When kundalini is involved, the kundalini controls the flow of and direction of the bliss force, with the atma as a bystander which might perceive the bliss force and experience it all depending on where that force travels in the psyche.

In the beginning stages of pranayama practice, the student might be hustling just to accumulate the breath energy (prana) but once he or she can do that, then it is a matter of targeting muladhara base chakra so that the energy generated during the breathing session, fuses into the kundalini and causes its arousal up the spine. That is the sum and substance of elementary kundalini yoga.

Doing this once, or doing this every once in a while however, does not cause any deep change in the psyche. The reason is that the psyche just reconfigures itself as it was before as soon as kundalini descends again and takes up its default position at the base chakra.

The only way to change the configuration of the psyche is to raise kundalini on a daily basis and that can only be done deliberately and for sure by pranayama practice.

Which pranayama?

That depends on the student. I feel that the student should try out several pranayama practices, until one is found which reliably causes kundalini to arouse for sure when it is practiced.

If the student can raise kundalini at least once per day, for some time, for years even, then eventually the sushumna central passage will remain free of obstructions, which means that kundalini will be radiating its energy up into the head continuously, even though it will increase in intensity during the pranayama session.

If we cap a water spring, then if we release the cap once per day, at first there will be a gush of water but then soon after when the pressure is normalized, the water will flow but without the gushing effect. So when kundalini is arouse by a pranayama practice, it does so with a gushing force and then if one does this daily for some time, for years even, kundalini will continue coming up into the head by radiating its energy through sushumna nadi even after one finishes a daily session.

Once the student masters kundalini to the degree that the sushumna passage remains open, allowing kundalini’s energy to radiate through it even after a breath infusion session, then the student can move on studying how the accumulated pranic energy causes the bliss force to arise.

At first a student has this idea that the bliss force is created by kundalini or that the bliss force is kundalini itself. This is similar to sex experience where after a first sexual intercourse experience, an individual gets this idea that the intercourse is the cause of sexual ecstasy. Since nature has tied the ecstasy experience with the sexual sharing experience, one naturally concludes that sex sharing is an ecstasy in itself.

This nature-endowed conclusion suffocates a student yogi so that he or she does not advance beyond the stage of just raising kundalini through the spine into the brain. The student becomes obsessed with this just as after having sex experience, one cannot forget it and keeps striving to get it again and again.

A student has to move beyond the practice of merely raising kundalini daily. That practice should continue but with a difference in the motivation for doing it, with increased ability to hold kundalini and direct it instead of being directed by it to enjoy the bliss aspect.

An infant wants the mother to give ice-cream but if the mother asks the child to help with the preparation of it, the child may cry. The desire of the infant is to eat the substance not to make it. A student yogi should move from the enjoyer-consumer stage to the detached directive stage in relation to kundalini and any bliss aspect which is generated as a result of an effective breath infusion practice.

============================

Here are three techniques for dealing with accumulated compressed infused energy which results from an effective pranayama practice:

  1.     Infuse breath energy, but cause it to accumulate and force it down through the frontal navel area, pass the groin area to the muladhara base chakra area.
  2.     Infuse breath energy but cause it to accumulate wherever it will. Then push out this compressed energy through any other areas of the psyche. Show no special interest in making the energy fuse into kundalini.
  3.     Infuse breath energy but cause it to accumulate wherever it will. Then when the bliss aspect begins, note where it is while you keep doing the breath infusion. When you stop the breathing, squeeze the accumulated energy inwards upon itself until it shatters into a million tiny pixels and then either explodes outwards and implodes upon itself even more.

Thank you!

Many questions I had, have been answered here. I will study this carefully.
