Astral Tune-Up

Last night I found myself in the astral during a lucid dream with an old acquaintance, Mr. Cintron from Puerto Rico, whom I have not seen in the flesh since 1985.

He literally pulled me in into the subliminal-physical astral realm where things look very close to earth.

The thing is, the moral of the story is, that that was not my intention. My intention was to practice yoga as usual with the subtle body, or entertain a similar spiritual experience during dreams. This I do before falling sleep by a conscious aspiration and concentrating on Naad as I fade away into sleep. Depending on the day's affairs and inclinations, I am successful, but the majority of the day must have been engaged in the practice of yoga, physically and mentally.

However, and this is the catch, material nature had another idea, and Mr. Cintron exerted a pull on me due to criminal entanglements I had with him before getting married and changing my life for the better. So, I owe him.

He requested I do a full tune-up on his 1971 vintage Mustang (or similar). I told him I wanted to be free to practice yoga and that that was not my line of work anymore, but I could not release myself from him. So I proceeded meticulously to do the tune-up.

Tune-up on these old cars are a little different from today's. I was taken to a very interesting mechanic shop in several layers and his beautiful car was in one corner well illuminated, so I started with the 8 spark plugs, asked whether he wanted them replaced or simply sand-blasted and re-used, pulled out the carburetor's cover, turned on the car and cleaned the carburetor with a special solvent, changed the spark plugs cables, changed the rotor cable and the rotor itself, used a timing gun to reset the engine, and so on. Boring and problematic. Several times I tried to leave, but couldn't. Not till I finished the tune-up, I was able to do so.

This is a sobering reminder of how little control I have on the whereabouts of my subtle body, and how past affections, good or bad, can dictate the behavior of it. Resolution of these entanglements, during this and also past lives, is a necessary requisite for the yogi who would even think about aspiring for higher status, not even considering the Siddha one.

For explanations about how these affective entanglements affect our lives, and how their understanding can begin to be the beginning of wisdom, it is helpful to study the Anu Gita, specially the Acharya's commentary of it.

Great astral experience....

clarity of perception....

good analysis of the subtle body and its confiscation by others because of services rendered previously either in this life or previously.

student yogi needs to face up to these encounters and realize them as foretelling what will happen after leaving the body, unless one is able to advance out of the realms where these resulting association are actuated.

no point dreaming about being in heaven when your essential nature is earth-bound.

At least know your actual situation.

Talk about heaven, talk about liberation either by dvaita or advaita has no meaning if you cannot even recall your dreams. It all begins with clear dream recall, to know what your subtle body does astrally, and to cease the astral sleep-walking.

This experience has some hidden message. You have some unfinished jobs. Try to recall them. As a spiritual person we always want to finish the debts and move forward to avoid future Karmik problems. Your experience reminds me of my father's experience. One night in dreams he was just asking to God "When will I be relieved from this Birth" the answer was you have to stick the "Ram" words on the floor of temple. Once you will complete this floor with the name of RAM you will be free. Surprisingly my father was used to write "RAM" word in repeatedly manner in his copy whenever he gets time. He has written so many diaries and copies with this word.

It looks like we have to finish some of the tasks at least in physical life otherwise we won’t be able to be free. You just need to recall the exact task related to that experience.

Thank you Manish Ji!

What you say makes senses to me. I know what I did wrong with this person, but I can't undo that, I will have to face the music though.

That's why it is so important for the yogi to have as little social imprint as possible.

These acts in my youth were committed in total ignorance - Avidya - knowledge of the law of karma, has been said to be the beginning of wisdom, I had none at the time.

Yes, the details are good indeed. But the thing is that these types of experiences can happen several times in the sleep cycle.  The idea is not to get in the habit of only facing 1/10 of what actually happens in the subtle world. The idea is to learn to increase dream objectiveness and recall so that the psychological adjustments can be completed effectively. In this post my so called “psychological adjustments” have been referred as:

1.       resolution of these entanglements 2. exerted a pull on 3. affective entanglements affect our lives

By definition that is what happens in the psychology as a result. I shouldn’t have to say that that the subtle body is our psychology, which means that by unfolding such encounters the subtle body may also be adjusted.  But there is a problem with this here. You see, trying to solve the issues might require involvement that the yogi or anyone else might not be objectively looking for in the subtle world or anywhere else.  Since the astral worlds are about sensing and manifesting psychological energies, when I refer to “involvement” I am actually talking about “working with energies at a functional level”, which simply means, “at a level in which it can be carried out”, which means “resolution of these entanglements” for whatever reason necessary to attain higher status if this is the intention. In doing so “perceptual awareness” will expand allowing for new existential forms of being, by altering the manifestation of your energy to be possible. So the yogi and anyone else looking for a better place to exist face a dilemma, on the one hand he or she does not want to create social interactions they believe are harmful to their goal, understandably so, and on the other he or she will have greater difficulty becoming objective to deal with important matters that exist in his or her past that are reflected in the subtle world as their objective or functioning present, because the social interactions are being neglected.

Imagine your psychological container as a bubble or dot (state of being). One could work to change this container, however your container is inside a bigger container which excerpts a force upon you, an active energy, or functional force (entanglements, pulls, effects) and we cannot expect to be done with it until the energies are dissipated (dimension of being). One needs to work with energies at the correct functioning level. This means that it’s not about trying to compensate for something wrong with silly repetitions, it’s about fixing the origin of the problem by facing it.

I think this need to be done every single morning. If not, it’s easy to fool ourselves by cherry picking experiences. We don’t have to share every experience in the forums, that’s understandable, nevertheless looking at them and processing them could be a secondary goal. It’s tempting to say that one can foretell what will happen after death by what is experienced in the astral dimension. But there is also a risk to this thinking, you see, expectation can also create reality, nice ones too, it should not be underestimated, therefore it is possible to end up creating a reality not based on what you experience before death, but the one you strive for at death.

It appears to me that people will have their own definition of “heaven”. Many have been able to find such a satisfying existence, and that’s how they will call it, whatever it is. What’s it to me to imply I know what someone’s heaven should be? I don’t know I can only share my suggestions. There will be heavenly heavens in the same way as there can be earthy like spiritual shopping malls. Sounds like a contradiction, but I don’t think it is. It is spirit in all cases. You see, at the end of the day it becomes a subjective realization, however objective it might appear to be. But anyway, that’s just me. Aim high.
