Astral Sex / Surya Namaskar

A celibacy question:

I have kept my retention of sex fluids and celibacy going good still but I have had two dreams where I lost fluid (in the dream only).  I am not walking around lusty, fantasizing, etc.  Is this just an impurity in the aura or subtle body?

MiBeloved's Response:

Retention of sexual fluids without the distribution of those hormones through the body is not part of kriya yoga practice, but it is given credit in other spiritual disciplines.

In kriya practice the retention of fluids might be compared to when an army keeps an ammunition dump under the main barracks where most of the soldiers sleep. This is dangerous, because who knows if it will explode and kill everyone.

Therefore in kriya yoga, the idea is that if the dump has to be under the barracks, and that seems to be the law of nature in this case, then at least we will distribute any ammunition which comes in.

It seems that by a law of nature, anytime the ammunition dump is empty, it immediately begins filling up again. So to make a long story short, in Kriya yoga the energy is distributed and is not allowed to build up.

So if what I said above is diplomatic, here is the information in plain terms.

Nature has designed the psyche in such a way that the accumulated sexual fluids are under the body in the pubic area. If it remains there and is allowed to build up, then even a sannyasi who has everything to lose will find that he is forced by nature to find sexual expression, thus breaking his vow. So if this can happen to a sannyasi and it happened to some of the Popes of the Catholic Church, then we can just understand the power of it in the life of other individuals who do not have as much to lose.

If you think that by hording sexual fluids you will get enlightenment, then please reconsider this. Sex fluids can help if somehow you can get that energy to arouse kundalini in an upward direction, otherwise what will happen to that energy? Perhaps you have a method which even the great yogis did not discover as yet.

You have mentioned losing the fluids in a dream as if that is something of no consequence. Well it is not important in some spiritual practices. However in kriya yoga, that is serious. Who was the person whom you were involved with? Not that you should tell me, you should not. I do not need to know. But it is a question you have to ask yourself.

There were many sannyasi and monks who had dreams of having sex with partners and then sometime after it actually happened on the physical level. In kriya yoga we do not consider such occurrence to be mere dreams or mere imagination but we consider it to be an actual occurrence. There is a nice story about Arjuna in the Mahabharata, where he left his body in samadhi in the Himalayas and went to the Swarga Heavenly places. There an angelic woman, who was just like a demigoddess as compared to earthly celebrities, invited him into her place for sexual affairs. Arjuna took the invitation so seriously that he refused to go to the woman’s room because he felt that she should be like an aunt or mother to him.

So there, Arjuna did not consider a dreamy experience to be merely dream or figment of imagination. In kriya yoga we follow this example of Arjuna and take serious consideration of sexual breaches in the astral world.

In fact such breaches are so dangerous that to regard them otherwise, is a sure sign that the person has no idea about the subtle body and does not understand anything about reincarnation.

What is the difference if I meet a woman in the astral world for sex and if I meet that woman in the physical world? You see a big difference, perhaps because in the physical world there is the possibility of pregnancy while in the astral world there is none of that. So this type of thinking is terribly flawed.

In fact astral sex is worse than physical sex , because at least with physical sex if there are no contraceptive methods you will be tagged with the responsibility for a child and that is good for you, because it makes you understand that nothing is free around here. You get to pay up right away and face the consequences which are enforced by human moral values.

But in the astral world, how will you understand the responsibility involved since there will be no children from the intercourse there?

O and you only had a few of these experiences!

Well done!

Are you saying that you recall every one of your dreams and that none of them are lost to waking memory?

And how is it that you think that sex in dreams is an impurity in the subtle body? Where is that idea coming from?

Sex is a natural part of the psyche, even for the animals? What do you mean by impurity? Sex is there for reproduction, at least in the lower animals. How did you get the human body you now possess without taking help from sex? Was your body derived from that impurity?

==============================

Question: My practice is waking before dawn for cleansing and then yogasanas, meditation, kirtan and study of texts.  I have been doing Surya Namaskar lately with good results.  Do you recommend this?  Should I do Moon Salutations at night?  What practices are best before bed?

MiBeloved's Response:

Surya Namaskar has become very popular because it is a harmonious flow of motions in accomplishing the various postures, however it is not really Surya Namaskar until we understand what Surya means and also what the word namaskar really means. I see many people are doing this process now in the developed countries, even learning it from people who have no belief or faith in the devatas of Hinduism and who think that deity worship is crap.

Let me remind you that Surya is the name of the sun-god who is a person. This same sun God was mentioned even in Bhagavad Gita as being in the disciplic succession from Krishna. Yajnavalka was one of the Upanishad rishis who got mantras from this person the sun-god and it was not something symbolic. It was not an allegory.

Namaskar is serious because it means obeisance to that person the sun God. And that is not symbolic. So if you are doing Surya namaskar with that personal worship component in it, then it might have some value to me, not otherwise.

Without contact with the deity it is just some physical motions without divine touch to it. I do not see that as having much mystic value. Personally I do not do it on a daily basis; I practice bhastrika in combination with certain postures which are relevant to the stage of practice I am at right now. My practice is not stereotyped. My relationship with the sun God is honored by rising early to practice before sunrise and also by taking in sun charge prana during the day, during the afternoon session of exercises.

For the moon we take in moon charge prana early in the morning.

We recognise the deities and appreciate their assistance and contribution to our progression.

Personally I never recommend that one worship any of the deities just like that. One should have a relationship with the particular deity or with a yoga guru who has such a relationship, and here I mean the person of the deity. Just to take up a popular practice will not get anyone anywhere in terms of deity contact or going to a higher plane of existence which is presided over by a deity like the sun-god.

The Sanskrit word namaskar means to bow down to an exalted divine being with full prostrations but somehow it is being thrown around by people in the developed countries as some sort of fad. This is ridiculous. I am not going to use it in that way.

When all is said and done you will have to find a yoga guru and deity to stick with. As we see in everything we do, nothing is done without some sort of personal contact and that contact is specific. So in spiritual life the same holds true.

Running here and running there is good because it shows your eagerness to find a suitable practice. So keep your eye on the lookout for a practice which can hold your interest and guide you to superior souls. Ultimately you will have to do a practice which is tailored to your specific stage of evolutionary development and then you can work on yourself and make solid advancement.
