I failed to report for the last two days, due to being cramped for time and also due to not being able to verbalize what happened during the exercises and meditation session. Things always happen, none of this is void or indescribable. But still if there is no crystal clear psychic perception on the particular level of the occurrences, one has difficulty describing what occurred.

Last night I had an encounter with some Vaishnava friends and some of their followers, where they asked me to help with a worship ceremony. First I noticed that the articles used during the ceremony were not cleaned after the previous ceremony.

In Vedic ceremonies, one should clean the articles just after the ceremony without fail. Then for the next ceremony, the articles are ready. If not things get haywire and the quality of the worship is degraded.

At this astral place, the ghee lamps (dhiyas) were not cleansed. There was no water anywhere.

In any case, they proceeded with the ceremony. During the ceremony, they asked me to lead a chant which is a praise for the spiritual master of the sect. In the sampradaya spiritual lineages, there is a standard procedure for formal worship of the spiritual master of the sect. Those sects which have deities have worship of the spiritual master and the deity. Some sects worship the spiritual master every day once per day. Some sects do so only twice per year during the Vyasa puja day and on the day of the appearance or birthday of the spiritual master.

While leading that chant, I could not recall the last line of the chant. I asked the senior people about it and they remarked that I should know it because it was in Sanskrit. They said that since I translate from Sanskrit, I was the person to know it.

Anyway before there were any more cutting remarks, I asked for the song book. It was arranged in a very confusing way and it took about 5 minutes to find the song. I then showed them the Sanskrit of the song and explained to them that it was a hybrid fractional Sanskrit.

Then they dropped their accusation about it being a Sanskrit song. Sanskrit is like what we see in the Bhagavad Gita and the Patanjali Yoga Sutras or in the Vedas and Upanishads. There are many other hybrid languages in India, which use Sanskrit in part or which fractionalize Sanskrit to local dialects.

After this experience in the astral, I woke up on this side and looked at the clock. I was twenty minutes late for morning breath infusion. The physical body ached because I did some construction work yesterday. It ached and pained as if it was 101 years old and ready to be carted off to the cemetery. I got up, cleaned the mouth and nostrils headed out to do the breath infusion outdoors.

Marcia Beloved's Response:

This is a nice description of what novices experience in daily or occasional practice. I have had periods of practice with lots of subtle activity which I could not describe clearly to anyone, due to lack of clarity. Sometimes making an attempt to record these experiences leads to greater clarity and increased memory of the event. Sometimes by trying to fill in the gaps, one just imagines, speculates and distorts what actually happened.

The important thing is to just keep practicing!
