What holds / prevents you from doing astral projection (apart from fear)?
Suppose you are prepared to leave the body and completely ready, and you are mentally willing to do so also, but still you can’t move out of body for some unknown reason. What are those reasons?

It is because you lack the understanding of what astral projection really is.
You do not understand that it is happening but you are not aware of it. You think that you have to make it happen. Astral projection is a nature function just like sleeping and urinating.
Are you controlling either sleeping or urinating.
Are you controlling digestion?
Can you get your hands wrapped around any of these functions completely and thoroughly? Well if you cannot then the same applies to astral projection, except that astral projection is a psychic nature function while digestion for example is a physical biological one.
Change your mind set.
Each time the physical body sleeps the astral body is projected out of it. Therefore strive not to astral project but to become aware during an astral projection which takes place anytime your physical system sleeps.
The mind may follow the physical system and not have any consciousness of the projection event. Therefore strive to become aware once the astral body is projection. Become conscious in dreams. Develop dream recall as the first step in this direction.

I've come across many questions like this. Many people with all kinds of beliefs have been able to have OBEs, those that think they create them or those that think they detect them appears to have no difference. Atheists, skeptics and the likes have been able to have conscious OBEs, so it's not what someone specifically believes, but what someone actually does. What I have come across that seems to determine if one person has out of body experiences or not is LIFESTYLE. Now this is a complex word, so I would advice those wanting to have Out of body experiences too analyze the lifestyle in the full sense of the word of those that can have OBEs frequently. There are infinite resources for this. It appears to me that most people instead want to have OBE experiences without really changing things, I don't blame them but it doesn't work this way. They would like a magical technique or a magical realization for a placebo effect that will give them a One conscious out of body experience, and then no more. How to Improve
I think in these cases is best to improve the mind and body connection. The mind wants out of body experiences, but the body is not helping at allowing the person to become aware as he or she enters trance states. It's that simple. It's not just about training the mind as one would think and improve awareness, It is about improving the body so higher awareness level can be brought forth as trance states occur. If this is not done, there is greater distancing of the body and mind making it nearly impossible to synchronize falling to sleep and awareness.
For example I've been working on the exercises for flexibility and Kundalini rising. It has helped tremendously is making it easier to feel myself into the trance states. I am able to re-enter dreams being lucid much easier now, sleep quality has improved. It seems to be about lowering the native tension of the upper body to be truly stress free and without mental concerns. Concerns get trapped in the upper body in my case, creating tension without my permission. It seems to me that lifestyle is the number 1 reason why people don't experience out of body experiences, aside from not knowing what they are.

Great post and advice Jettins!
The thing about the lifestyle resonates here. Why? Because when I increase Bhastrika pranayam practice (and I know you are doing this now), I immediately see specific results in dream awareness and dream recalls. Why? For once, the subtle body is energized and does not leave the gross body in a slumber and the gross, physical body, also being better oxygenated and fed, does not have to draw that much energy from the subtle one. This is compounded by a Sattvic diet. And Sattvic also means here small amounts. Any extra digestion not needed goes to waste and taxes the energy equation.

Yes, I think it's like balancing an equation. Everyone having a different set of variables that need to be in specific ranges so that the equation that promotes constant Out of body experiences becomes balanced. People having weaknesses and strengths in their lifestyle that can promote out of body experiences (but mostly weaknesses), if this is understood the initiate would have an easier time accomplishing his goals as he knows what he needs to target. Less confusion is likely to motivate the initiate to keep going forward. This will be a chapter in my book at some point. Laying out the lifestyles that seems to be conducive to out of body experiences and why.

Query: Now when you say lifestyle are you talking about a messy person who may keep their home in such a clutter? or a person who is overweight and people who don't take care of themselves or their home a junky person? are you saying a physically fit person more than an overweight person can have an o.b.e or AP

Yes hydro, all needs to be considered. I am not going to write a guide on this here today and recommend one thing or the other. But I would like to let everyone know that in general our behavior in the FULL sense of the word has an effect. Even the thought process that creates the behavior should be looked at. It is likely not all will be bad, and some of it will be helpful. I would suggest the initiate goes deep within him or herself in an honest way to try get to the bottom of it to realize what behaviors work and which do not. There are many approaches to success, but not long after the person starts to look that he or she will realize there are many similarities. It starts with being able to let go of all physical concerns at the same time manifesting this mental aspect within the physical body itself.
It's like preparing for the Olympics, a person should not expect to be good at it until he changes his body and mind. So what makes them special really? nothing more than motivation to do what needs to be done.
Have you noticed how many people signed up to the forum, (Astralvoid.com) and not many will come to read anymore? Most do not have the motivation because of other more important pressing matters.
