Last night I was with a friend who lives near Tampa Florida. This might be because my physical body is in Florida at this time. It can be reached easily by persons whose gross forms are in Florida and who do not usually astral project very far away from their physical bodies.

Unless one makes an effort to free up the subtle body from the physical one, that subtle form will be earth bound and will usually act as if it is a physical form, even on the astral side. For instance, the astral body can pass through a concrete wall, just as some radio waves do, but if the person is focused on material existence, their astral form might mimic the physical one and be so dense that it is unable to pass through a concrete wall, even though in fact, it can.

Spiritual life includes more than the mind which is approximately the subtle head. It is also concerned with the rest of the subtle body, the trunk of it and the legs and arms of it. Thus one should free up both the mind and the lower part of the subtle body from the materialistic concept of life. This really means that one should have experiences of being out of the physical body and into the subtle world where different laws of nature play out. There the subtle body can float or fly because it is not subjected to the gravitational force which the physical body is controlled and restrained by.

Actually there is a force which makes the subtle body earth-bound but it is the astral gravity not the physical one. However a person can cause the subtle body to be physically bound by having and maintaining a materialistic demeanor. This has nothing to do with my philosophy of life. I may have the most sublime philosophy in the world and still my astral form might be earth-bound. It may comprise of dense subtle matter which will make it remain on the material end of the astral spectrum of energies.

In that encounter with my friend, his astral body was dense as was many of the other people who were out that night in the astral world in Florida. We saw some persons whom we knew years ago when we both lived in the Hare Krishna ashram in West Virginia. These persons were all in astral bodies and those forms were taller than their material bodies by about one foot, but each of these astral bodies were earth bound. I then turned to my friend and said,” Let us fly, man. We don’t have to walk to go to where you wish to go.”

He was concerned that the others would see us flying and would object. I told him that I did not care about what the others would think, and that they could not prevent us even if they disapproved. These others he mentioned were his superiors in the Hare Krishna society which has its bosses and underdogs. He was always an underdog and he was afraid to offend his superiors by flying which they might interpret to mean that he thought he was higher than they were.

I told him not to worry about their echelon system of seniority. Then I said to him. You won’t be able to do it anyway unless you hold on to my subtle body because your subtle body is dense like theirs.

He held on and we both sailed off into the sky. I could feel his body weighing mine down like a heavy piece of cargo in an air plane, but by concentrating a little both of our bodies raised into the sky to about 120 feet above the ground and then we began moving in the direction he wanted to. We quickly passed his superiors and their faces turned sour seeing us fly off in the distance further and further away from them.

As we kept going we lost vision and then we retained astral vision but were in a dark-grey sky which was so dense that we could not see a thing beyond one foot.

At that point I released him and told him that he would awaken on the physical side. His astral body trailed off until it was not within range. I returned to my physical form which was in Gainesville Florida. I woke up and wrote down this experience.

We lost vision because of the denseness of his astral form. It drained down my astral form and caused it to vibrate at a lower frequency. That is how this sort of thing pans out. Helping others in the astral world is not such a good activity for the helper.

Were both of you at the same level of awareness...did he understand the concept of astral projection and flying?

Yes and no, just as two human beings who are locked down in this dimension using material bodies, seeing the same sun and moon, may be at different levels of awareness internally.

He was not aware that we were in the astral world and also he may not have recalled anything about the encounter on the physical side of existence. The astral body may play out many circumstances in the astral world and the person may not know of these on the physical side. This is because the memory apparatus which logs astral stuff is not the same as the one which logs physical life. And since the entity is mostly physically concerned, he or she may not be able to access what happens in the astral world after returning from an astral projection.

Nature switched the person over to the physical memory system as soon as the astral body is recalled into the physical one. Then the person awakens and feels as his or her usual social identity on the material side, without any awareness or recall of what took place astrally.

I know this sounds pathetic and even unreasonable but give it some thought.

Did he understand the concept of astral projection and flying?

This person does understand astral projection and flight of the astral body on this side but that knowledge which is based on what is heard from others and on his experience of astral projection, does not guarantee that he could recall most of the astral projections of the subtle body.

Always remember that the master of astral projection is nature itself not the entities who are in nature as individual souls. The application of that is that we learn about it from nature itself by observing how nature does it. In so far as we can penetrate into nature’s private and hidden affairs which affect us, we can become aware of astral projection and similar psychic events.
