Email inquiry:
Normally person remains in Astral world after death and before taking new birth, right? I mean, the persons in Astral world still not self realised souls and got moksha, right? Because, I think once that stage is achieved, the soul will be free from possessing any gender. (I mean soul has no gender, but taking birth in any gender)
MiBeloved's Response:
Astral existence is not moksha. Or it depends on how you define moksha. If moksha means being without a physical body and the troubles that entrails, then astral existence is moksha but the traditional meaning of moksha is different.
Moksha became a famous word in India because of the efforts of Sri Adi Shankara, and as far as I know he was speaking about liberation from both the subtle and gross material existence, not just from the gross level of it.
Death of the physical body does not mean the end of the problems of the individual limited entity. In the astral existence all the problems we have on the psychological level, like stress and distraught emotions will continue unless we find a way to change the nature and operations of energies in the subtle body. Therefore death of the physical body will not put an end to the klesha mento-emotional afflictions and trauma which attack us from time to time.
--------
The situation of gender does not go away by losing a physical body. In the astral world there is gender. In some astral places there is more sexual intercourse going on than we can imagine in the physical existence. When one is deprived of a physical body either by self action, suicide, or by being killed by another, or by being killed by a disease, one is still left with gender.
A limited being does not have the power to remove his or her gender, even though there might be alterations in gender and distortions of it or dysfunctionality of it. Gender is like life, in the sense that in a living body you cannot remove the life of it even though you may act in a suicidal way or contact a disease which may threaten the life of the body. So long as the body is alive the life of it has to be there. So gender is there in some way in some primal basic format irrespective of what we wish to do about it.
It is totally false to propose that with the death of the physical body, the gender of the person will end. I have seen more gender and sex in the astral world, than I ever will see in the physical plane of existence.
